I broke my nice headphones and have been in the market for something for a few weeks. Found this on ebay today, Factory refurbished HD660S for $299 and you can apply the 15% off code (SAVEONCR15) to take $44 off. I live in a state with sales tax so ended up $281 out the door.

These headphones are $500 brand new

You have some pretty good headphones there already. There won't be a big difference between 650 and 660. You should consider taking a more dramatic step up next to something the HE6v2 which has been as low as $550 when on sale. A great deal at that price.

Seems like they are trying to liquidate these. These were on sale recently on their site and with ID.me you can get them for like $275 plus tax. I bought a pair and love them.

6xx really need a dedicated amp, which I don't have. If I'm going for that route, I may want to try those planar.

Audiophiles would just buy the 6xx from drop and buy a good amp which will benefit in the long run. There's a reason why these 660s don't sell well

$99 Atom amp from jds labs gets glowing review. That's where I would start first if I i didn't have any amp. After that when you go higher end, it is more like taste-oriented.

Sure, the warranty is worse, but the overall experience--detail, presentation, soundstage, comfort. Soo much better, IMHO. Everyone's ears are different, but yeah-- no comparison for me.
