There aren't enough volume steps. It goes from being too quiet to too loud with one step up in volume.

There's no battery backup. If power is out when your alarm is supposed to go off, you are SOL. I bought a cheap LED alarm clock 20 years ago that had battery backup.

It's not that smart.

Someone disassembled one in a video, and apparently it has a camera in it.
good to know. the volume is a dealbreaker for me. i like to have an alarm that goes from silent to audible very slowly so i hear it when im naturally half awake anyways. (non rem i believe).

but if i were to continue to use my phone as an alarm... does anyone know if this bulb can be set up to simulate daylight? slowly brighten like the sun is coming up? i hear that can help you wake up during the dark winter months.

Bought this a week ago. It picks up "okay Google" better than my other smart devices. Screen is sharp. Clock overall is easy to use. Music doesn't sound amazing but that's not what they're aiming for.

Overall, a reliable, easy to use device.

The bulb is a bulb. I think it has less color options than other smart bulbs but it was easy to set up and link to my Google Home app.

Okay, maybe I'm out of the loop, but Walmart is charging me $5.99 to pick this up at the store because I haven't met a $35 minimum order total?

They're charging money now just to pick it up in the store? Am I reading this right???
It did that for me last time when I chose a specific time. I think you should be able to get free pickup if you don't choose a specific time. There should be an option for pick up any time after x time

I will agree with this. I got two last time. This works better than my google minis. I use it as a clock and to listen to the radio when I go to bed. Has been working flawlessly for me. The bulb was also easy to link up and install and works like a charm. I have no complaints.

Significantly better/more functional than an alarm clock. I bought one for someone who requested that for Christmas.
Except when your wifi goes out.

Alarm does not work without wifi.

Is this of any use?
It is if you have other smart devices, such as light bulbs, a sound system or TV. I had the generation before this, until I got a Google Nest Hub. It worked well. It's super convenient to be able to tell it to turn your stuff on and off.

Garbage. Thing won't stay connected to Wi-Fi more than 8 minutes.
