Great price for a 6 core ryzen. Unfortunately, USB-C looks to be data only and the ram is 2x4gb so you'd have to replace both sticks to upgrade.

Beware of poor support from HP. Once your warranty expires, they provide zero support, and won't even let you contact them. I bought a similar HP laptop 2 years ago. They issued a bad BIOS update which bricked many laptops of the same model. Of course this happened just after my warranty had expired. They offered no support, and I couldn't even buy a replacement motherboard. I had to get a different laptop.

Dual-channel memory provides a big boost in graphics performance, so it's important to have modules installed in both slots, even if one of the modules is only 4GB.

I am goin' to spill out the secret for these low priced walmart laptops. Everything should be good but the screen. Even if it says IPS, the screen will be pale yellowish. That is where the manufacturers or retailers save money. CPU, memories etc are same but the screen does not conform to any standard.

Comment #2 states that usb C is data only, so you only can connect one external monitor. For a second monitor you would need a docking station with display link that is not ideal.

But I have never used more than 12 GB with 16 GB available.

I have never used more than 128GB of my SSD. I assume you meant SSD as you said no HDD. Mechanical HDD. It stands for Hard Disk Drive. That means mechanical.

I also never use my Laptop in the dark so backlight matters not for me. I almost always use a Bluetooth keyboard.

So it depends on the person. No doubt some use more than 16 GB and far more than 128 GB SSD.

For all those Linux users out there, this CPU is currently not working with the "Suspend" feature that is pretty useful with laptops. Future kernel updates may fix it. But for now, no bueno.

Suspend has been hit or miss on my 3500u Envy x360. Some kernel versions work (most of the time), the next it breaks again.

They aren't a big ask. There were times (good deals) where we got the above specs for around 600 this year itself.

All I am saying is in 2022, anything less than the above configuration will sound and look outdated!
