Also realize that the 980Pro is Gen4 pcie (which needs a motherboard that has that) and the 970 Evo Plus is Gen3 pcie.
The 980Pro will 'downgrade' itself and work fine on a Gen3 motherboard...but this of course makes it even less worthwhile (if at all) to upgrade to it.

So u saying this is not good for ps5?
Is it worth for average Joe to upgrade this from 970 Evo Plus for extra $50?
Just ordered 970 Evo Plus for $99
Thank you in advance

No just return it and buy it here… I bought from amazon for 189 and could still return it however to put all back like OS sw etc is a PITA unfortunately…
IIRC it is recommended for the nvme to have a heatsink if you are going to use it for PS5. There are some third party heatsinks but not sure if they are compatible with this nvme. Do some research online before buying for a PS5.
Did you put any data on it yet?
Edit: To answer my own question: "PCIe 4.0 is backward compatible. It's also forward compatible. So, you can insert PCIe 4.0 expansion cards into PCIe 3.0 slots, but your data transfer rate will be limited by the slower speeds of PCIe 3.0."
