I'm not a big fan of plastic on my mechanics tools but the Craftsman did okay on the Project Farm test, especially when you factor in the $50 price. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HP4uECoH8cc

These have been this price at Lowe since first posted in October. https://slickdeals.net/f/15364417-craftsman-torque-wrench-sae-3-8-inch-drive-20-ft-lb-to-100-ft-lb-cmmt99433-49-98?v=1

Amazon has been price matching them off and on too. https://slickdeals.net/f/15373855-craftsman-torque-wrench-sae-1-2-inch-drive-50-ft-lb-to-250-ft-lb-cmmt99434-amazon-49-98?v=1&src=SiteSearch

So now Amazon has a decent amount of 'Used' ones in their Warehouse for $45.

According to the product pages, both the Husky and Craftsman wrenches have "limited lifetime warranties", which only covers product failures caused by defects in material or workmanship. What is NOT covered is damages and failures due to misuse, abuse, calibration or normal wear and tear.

Both the Craftsman and the Husky will likely go back up to full price once their stock of Black Friday 'Special Buy' inventory dries up.
My point being, I wouldn't snooze if you're in the market for one of these torque wrenches.

Really tempted...

I always drive to the local AutoZone store and borrow their wrench to torque down the lug nuts (my car requires 170ft/lbs, which is more than my torque wrench can do).

But, the top reviews on Amazon all mention the same problem: it won't click when the desired torque is achieved. That's very concerning.
Mine failed within the first 6 months.

How does borrowing tools from autozone works?
You go there, ask for the tool, pay a security deposit, take the tool home, use it, bring it back with the receipt, and get full refund.

It's kinda like buying a tool, use it once, and return it. They just made it official so you no longer feel guilty about it. On the other hand, the tool they lend you are not always brand new. I guess it's their way to encourage people to work on their own car in order to sell more parts?

FYI, Husky is on sale too at HD.
Husky deal at Home Depot seems like much better option
Personally I would never purchase from Lowe's again, their return policy is awful and PITA

FWIW, I broke 2 of my Husky 3/8 Torque wrenches. They warrantied them both of the times. They just stopped clicking and I almost overtorqued one of my spark plugs. The return person was confused both times because there was no actual damage on the wrench, it just didn't click.

Thanks, it's good to know that they will replace it even if there was no physical damage on it. I'm definitely purchasing one this summer for my new set of wheels with summer tires on it so it won't be anything delicate as replacing spark plugs so I should be fine

While you need to back the torque down for storage to keep the spring from getting too tired, if you back it off too much, the little piece inside that clicks over when torque is met can get dislodged and no longer work correctly until you take it apart, realign everything, and recalibrate it.

So yeah, back off the torque for storage, but don't let the spring become completely unloaded.

Yes, for the price($95 at initial release) Craftsman had the highest deviation standard that's why it's priced at $49 now instead of $95
