We had the worst time with this service and had to switch back to cable internet. I spent probably more than 10 hours on the phone over a week with their tech support. It would work fine for a brief moment and then nothing despite appearances that everything was OK. It was a complete nightmare.

My speeds are around 400/40, but it's useless if you do online gaming.
For office and home use and streaming, it works well.

see below. you can do your own research too.

Hello! I apologize that you are having issues with Home Internet. I personally use T-Mobile Home Internet for Gaming, and I can agree with you it can be a little frustrating getting it to work with Video Games if at all. The reason for this (confirmed by a Supervisor from Home Internet department) is because the High-Speed Gateway lacks the "UPnP" feature which in short terms is used to connect to certain aspects of a Video Game such as Chat Systems for example. Without UPnP, video gaming can be tough. T-Mobile is aware of the issue, and they are working on a fix, but don't know when it will be released. I hope my answer has helped. Have a great week!

and

had issues with the port forwarding. The issue is that t-mobile and others use a carrier grade NAT which will never assign you a public IP when connecting to the internet. You will be assigned a shared IP to WAN which means there is no way to direct any particular port to your device directly. Unless t-mobile offers a service to allow a public or dedicated IP this probably will never be supported, even if the router they provide has it available in their settings

Love my T Mobile home internet....saving $20/mo compared to Spectrum with speeds at least 2 to 7 times faster! (150mbps download up to as high as 500mbps). If you're close to the towers, you'll love it....seems to be hit or miss though, although I've heard more people like it than not.

well sheesh! I just received the equipment today, not yet set it up. Haven't cancelled my cable internet yet. Gonna run them together for 1 month. I'd really love to kick my ISP to the curb... where are you located that it didn't work for you?
Seems to be the Running Theme when it comes to T-mobile Home WiFi. It was about 2-3 months ago that I wanted to use this service . All my research led me to believe I would really appreciate this service, it was a great experience and I'd save quite a bit of money compared to Cable network WiFi. T-mobile internet was running an introductory promotion to new customers, the first two weeks were a 14 day Free Trial period . So I joined and immediately had a Big problem the UPS Delivery driver misplaced the Router T-mobile shipped to me. I spent quite literally during the following 3 days Well Over 15 hours on the phone trying to find the drivers mistake. Because of the Time n effort I put in trying to find the Router T-mobile customer service Offered me an Additional 30 days free service On Top of the 14 day Free Trial period. Recieved the 2nd Router in a couple days set up my new WiFi service fully expecting my First Bill to arrive the end of June being due by July 4th. Two days later while checking my email there's one from T-mobile WiFi I open it and I'm Shocked to see a Bill for $75 due less than a week later. Call them and they and they refused to Honor the Full month and 14 day Free service Promised to me. This went on for a few days needless to say I was a customer for less than 48 hrs. My advice Stay Away from this service it's only good for one thing Anger and Frustration!

I have lived in a lot of places and reliable but crazy expensive vs cheaper but unreliable seems to be the standard. Names change, but experiences don't.

Been using TMo 5G internet since May, 400-600Mbpsdn, 90 up, 20pings. No issue, gaming is great both PC, Xbox, no NAT issues. BEWARE: i didn't get my rebate so i called...some tmo rep had voided my rebate for NO reason, so they assured me i qualified, but still waiting! Make sure you check after submitting ALL rebates! BTW, the internet for me is blazing FAST....Bye bye comcucks!

Ugh, sounds horrible. Sorry you had a bad experience. But for us it has been fantastic. The upload speed, which I care about a lot, is 5 times faster than Cox for $20 less. Service has been almost flawless. I have had to restart the modem only 2 in the 8 months or so.

Now as far as customer service is concerned yeah they are the worst, I still dont have an online account... nobody seems to know whats going on... I called in a bunch and then just gave up. The bill gets paid automatically from my credit card so I guess it's okay.

It must be crazy to use cellular tower as home internet service. When more people in the are start use it, you will notice what I am saying.

I was really considering this as our house literally across from the tower (in a steeple of the church).

On my phone, My down is 906 Mbps and Up is 125 Mbps. Considerably faster than my cable at 200/10 Mbps.

Reading some posts here has concerned me. Especially lack of port forwarding and VPN issues (from what I've heard). I work from home and require VPN and I'm reading that VPN speeds w/ T-mobile are horrendous. Anyone experience this?

Do you get the same speed as you would with your phone? As above, for me, it's fairly high and getting those speeds for $50 is VERY enticing.

Smart phones still get the highest priority, my iPhone 5G UC can reach around 5-600M while the trash can is up to 400M.

I have used tmhi with VPN for over a year no issues at two different addresses. Up until a month ago I was fully remote.

That's fine. Including the purchases of 2 external antennas and accessories, I'll break even in 4 months (2 more months to go) compared to the price of my previous cable internet. After 4 months, I'll enjoy >$40 savings every month. If things go south, I could easily quit since there's no contract, unlike my cable internet. I'd just hate going back to cable with contract, data cap, increasing prices year after year....I'm buying as much time as possible until fiber comes to my neighborhood.

Can you point me to the external antenna's you purchased? Thanks!

I use tmo home at my place. Switched recently to try it out and have been pretty impressed. Speeds are plenty adequate for a house full of nerds and even the ping is very acceptable (three of us playing OW or Fortnite at the same time pinging 35-45 while others are streaming or doing other online stuff). Running double NAT since I plugged in my router for DNS control but still working well.
