This type of tool is awesome for quick and perfectly accurate drywall cutouts with minimal measuring in new sheets. Make sure to use guide point bits.

Here's a good intro video showing how to mark and make the cuts: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xuRsOr-3aJs

A Drywall Cut-Out Tool is less likely to accidently cut through things you don't want it too, like receptacle boxes, wires, pipes, etc.

It is also easier to quickly trace around the things you are trying to make the cutouts for. Drive in the bit, do a quick circle, and cutout should be uniform with the box.

I've seen these for well over a decade.

Would you get something like this rather than using an oscillating tool?

Asking as a home owner doing a lot of drywall cutouts for things like electrical retrofits.

Have the same question . A oscillating tool cuts through dry wall like butter . Not sure how much benefit you get with this tool over an oscillating multi tool .

Won't find many better deals on a cut out tool with battery and charger.

The benefit is that you get a charger and 2.0AH battery with free tool of dubious value/usefulness. Does it get very dusty using the oscillator on drywall? Suppose could hold a vac up to it with minimal additional effort given the single-handed nature of such a cut.

I made the mistake of thinking I didn't need the guide bits and immediately regretted that decision while drywalling Mt garage. I've been using the drywall attachment on the ridgid multitool and have been on/off about buying the dedicated drywall tool here. I'm assuming it's smaller and lighter and will probably pull the trigger.

If you are ok going slower and learning by doing, measuring and using a keyhole saw works well. It just requires more precision or else there is too much space around the box/outlet and the cover won't hide it

Thanks...I conducted several searches on SD, and didn't find this particular deal. Perhaps my search terms were incorrect.

Do you have the link to the previously-posted deal you can link here?

Am looking at replacing an old Dremel. Wonder if this could work instead of it. Love the cordless but wonder if it would be too bulky for small projects.
