If anyone does not need this right away, keep an eye out at hsn. They have the 7 function nc301 that has 5 total containers. It lists for 229, but can apply for a new account for a $50 off coupon, which gets you more containers and a better unit for only $10 more.

Same price at Costco but with an extra container. I got mine from Kohls before the holidays with coupons for around $125 plus getting Kohls cash and rewards.
Both the one at Costco and I got from Kohls have 7 programs, not 5.

I don't know if this is the case for this particular model, but I did some reading on ice cream and frozen yogurt makers not long ago, and it seems like for a number of them, there's a kind of pre-step needed where you need to freeze something for a long time first. It doesn't seem like most of them just allow you to dump in the ingredients and then call it a day

That's why there are microwaveable meals and real cooking. Unless you want to spend a lot more, it does take time to prepare the container or ingredient. The nice thing with Creami is that you can make multiple pints of ice cream one after the other without going through the thawing and freezing cycle in between.

It seems this is a reduced model with only 5 programs. Everywhere else have been selling the original model with 7 programs. So don't buy this one at this price.

Could you please explain in even more layman terms how to use this? And what prep would look like for large batches?

i made several pints of vanilla; pretty simple to do...

for each pint you want to make, multiply each ingredient quantity by the number of pints you want to make; combine all ingredients and mix together; pour mixture into pint containers and freeze for at least 24 hours; when you want a pint, the pint needs to be "creamified" (i.e. blended in the machine);

note that if you want to serve more than a pint, each pint has to be done separately in the machine

i have made two batches for family; first batch became crumbly after putting in the machine - this indicates that the batch was too cold apparently; second batch much better - put in a different freezer which was not as cold; for the second batch, made blizzards with the mix-in setting - kids really liked that

FYI this doesn't "make" ice cream. You freeze your ice cream base/sorbet using their containers. The machine the. Slowly "shaves" the frozen container which creates an ice cream texture

If you want something that doesn't require freezing then you need an ice cream maker with a condenser

When you find the ice cream too dusty/icy, just run the respin program. One may also let the frozen mix sit for a few minutes before the running the ice cream program. Each pint takes less than 3min and the respin takes a couple minutes if needed. Each unit comes with 3 to 5 pint size containers with lids depending on where you get it. Additional containers available in 2 and 4pk. I have a total of 7 pint containers, so I can make up to 7 pints of the same or different ice creams within the same day.

I've used these so called "Ice cream maker". Too much work with pre-freeze
If you want simple mix and viola ice cream, buy the one with built in compressor.

No, this is a blender that "scrapes" the mix so it seams like ice cream. Like a fancy shaved ice machine.

I just picked one of these up for $50. The lady that helped me track it down said they had 3. She couldn't find anymore.
