Both the one at Costco and I got from Kohls have 7 programs, not 5.
for each pint you want to make, multiply each ingredient quantity by the number of pints you want to make; combine all ingredients and mix together; pour mixture into pint containers and freeze for at least 24 hours; when you want a pint, the pint needs to be "creamified" (i.e. blended in the machine);
note that if you want to serve more than a pint, each pint has to be done separately in the machine
i have made two batches for family; first batch became crumbly after putting in the machine - this indicates that the batch was too cold apparently; second batch much better - put in a different freezer which was not as cold; for the second batch, made blizzards with the mix-in setting - kids really liked that

If you want something that doesn't require freezing then you need an ice cream maker with a condenser
If you want simple mix and viola ice cream, buy the one with built in compressor.
