I almost purchased these Plano boxes last year but ended up with this:
https://www.target.com/p/sterilit...nk=sametab

Reasons: More than double the storage and a gasket to keep out dust/moisture. Purchased for $13 in store, I keep it bungee corded in the bed of my truck and use it to stow misc items.
The Plano will have thicker walls for more durability, but I'm not tossing this item around. It stays put. I hope this helps anyone!
I have two of these bolted to the top of my Jeep's roof rack for over a year, and they have surprisingly withstood weather and being banged up against tree branches off road (like seriously big tree branches) without damage yet. Pricing wise, I bought two more Jan 1 last year and paid $16.78 each, so not quite a slick deal. But I may order one as a spare, because sooner or later I'm going to break one!
That's a lot smaller than it appears, only 17 gallons.

You're very ignorant. Load these "very tiny thin plastic bins" down and you can bust a gut carrying then. Next to poultry bins these are the best storage containers around. I own over 50 of them, though most are the next size smaller. Easier to handle.
I'm 'ignorant'? WTF are you loading this down with that you're 'busting a gut' carrying a bin barely a foot deep and 2 foot long - plutonium? Glad you like yours, but I stand by my proposition that these things are tiny, expensive for what they are, and are in any event available for this price or less constantly.

I bought one of these for storing birdseed outside. Not advisable. The chipmunks chewed right through it.

How are you mounting these? Bolting through the bottom?

Drilled two holes in the bottom per u bolt, then pushed the u bolt up from underneath so it traps the bar (3/4" square bar IIRC), and the bottom of the box together, once I secure the u bolts down from the inside of the box.

This box was never worth "$64.99". I have owned the 108 qt version for a couple years. While it basically accomplishes the job of enclosing stuff, there is nothing refined or particularly durable about its construction. That is, it looks tougher than it is. And it does not seal particularly well - no gasket. Don't get me wrong, if you need a box to store stuff, it is probably worth the $17.50, but don't be expecting to be surprised by the deal you got, given what this box is.

Note, some of the other Plano boxes appear to be available at reasonable prices at HD.com.

What can I say, you are ignorant, maybe even stupid. The container listed is 30"x15"x12" , 68 QT. I originally was commenting on your comment about the"thin plastic". My response was that they are tough, durable and can carry slot of weight. I know for a fact the smaller container can carry 12) 500' spools of 12awg wire at 12.5# each. That's 150#. That kind of weight is referred to as "gut busting".

I'm not hate'n, but...

72 cents more than when you bought it LAST YEAR!!!

Considering inflation between last Jan to this Jan, this price is just as good, if not better than your purchase.

You know Slickdeals is not keeping up with inflation when the hottest front-page item is a plastic storage bin and people getting into heated debates over $17 of plastic.

Is the interior a rectangle without any supports, or is does it have supports which result in much less usable space? Basically, is it a wide open interior like a tote?

I recall looking at their olive green totes a couple of years ago and decided not to buy because they were very flimsy and the interior had a bunch of supports taking up storage space.

hd review "My only real issue for them is that they take up a lot more space than they hold. The shape tapers toward the bottom and the lid/handles stick out a couple of inches from the inside wall on every side, which makes the outside dimensions a great deal larger than the inside dimensions"

That 's a very good price.

Any reason to pay higher price for the one in this thread?
