You are correct. Still a really good tv for the price . Only thing you have to worry about is the quality control of Hisense. Tv could last you 10 years or maybe 3 months, it's a gamble. Also I believe there was a software update that gave DV and HDR content red ghosting . Not sure if that was fixed yet.

The red ghosting issue was patched with a firmware update. But yeah, if you can turn in a good showing in the panel lottery you can definitely get yourself a nice TV. Not the ultimate choice for gamers, but it performs very well for content viewing, both SDR and HDR. I just recently grabbed a 55U8G for $650 over the holidays, and brow beat a buddy of mine who was also looking for a TV into grabbing the 55 inch H9G which is a steak right now at $500.

Expensive. Bought a Hisense 65" for $299 two years ago. Hisense TVs are not super great quality but their main draw is the low price. Seeing it increase so much I would rather buy a Sony.
I have the same Hisense but not all models are the same like all sony and samsungs aren't the same where price is usually an indication of added features. Seems like everyone uses another Hisense model to compare. I like mine. Good colors and sound and value but it has some minor picture problems that i don't think about that much unless i'm focused on it. if there was a Hisense tv selling for $300 right now, that post would be an easy frontpage hot deal.

I have the 2019 version of this...

The tv has great picture and worked awesome for a couple months. It is now barely usable, it is slower than a computer with windows 95 and a virus. It sucks because it is our main tv and has great picture but sometimes it will literally take 5 minutes to get the the home screen or pressing any sort of button on the remote. I will also randomly come downstairs in the middle of the night and the tv will turn its self on.

I have 3 other budget Hisense TV's in the house and they work great but unfortunately the pricier h9 has been a disaster

I second on that. I bought 659Hf in 2019 and it's true that sometimes the TV can run slow or HDMI handshake problem might happened frequently. When slowness happened, I went to storage setting and clean the cache. Also go to each apps like disney+ and clean the cache. It's an out of memory issue and they should be able to manage this thing better. Perhaps weak processor contribute to this problem as well. Another solution is to use 3rd party streaming device like roku or firetv. Software update support is almost none after the 1st year. Otherwise, I'm satisfied with the picture quality overall.

I am concerned more about the longevity than price/pq. Am I understanding that the consensus here is that the x85j has more longevity. In the long run it seems Sony is cheaper because it will last longer...?

Recently, after noticing some deals that I missed out on-- the '55" u6g was being sold at amazon earlier this month for $399, in limited quantities were a $100 gift card. A week ago, the '55" u8g was $749 at BestBuy with some people getting $250 gift cards-- I am refocusing my TV want for purchase to the '55" H9G for $499 at amazon. I believe my online Black Friday (2021) purchase for the $228 '55" TCL s21 is only returnable thru March 3rd, 2022.. and its definitely going back.. its a decline from the 2019, 4-series.

It looks like this, the H9G unit, outperforms the U6G and is better overall than the H8G1 (which sounds like a revised H8, using U6G processing and firmware released this year). Does anybody have any other opinions on better Hisense deals or TVs that are available for deals.

Pretty much I want a budget TV that is going to give me a good picture for upscaling any lower content; be good for streaming which mainly is what I'm going to be using it for; give a good picture for playback of DVDs, BluRays and 4k discs. (I also have the Panasonic DP-UB420-k, 4k bluray player) and give me a decent-good experience watching sports.
Does anyone have any bad dirty screen effect (DSE) issues, blooming or red ghosting problems that they've noticed? please post here. (I understand this was Hisesenses flagship release in 2020..so its had plenty of time to receive firmware upgrades and has benefited by them-- so it's a good percent of its available potential.)

I probably won't do a lot of gaming based things from this TV; mainly it will be older consoles.. I've read that this has low input lag.

Does anyone posting here think that there will be better Superbowl deals, or is what we're seeing going on going to be it? Please post your thoughts here - I think this seems to be a great deal for a budget tv, especially one (after calibration) used to watch tv shows and movies; may be good for non-demanding gaming, too.

I have been delaying on ordering this on amazon. Are there other discounts elsewhere? E.g.; rebates, gift cards, further discounts etc etc. Sometimes exchanges or credits after something you buy drops happens.. but I'd prefer to not have to.

Definitely going to buy another firestick 4k max though. A 3rd party smart OS (streaming device) is probably a great move, too. Sounds like I won't be able to do much on this tv until I verify a google account. Hope it doesn't MAKE me enable smart features; some smart TVS tend to get clunky with their native smart features enabled.

Thanks for any input/help. *(I've also read that this tv has had some issues with sound on Disney+ App and either Dolby Vision or HDR 10+ in Amazon Prime App..maybe one or two other issues with apps. Not sure if the firmware updates covered everything or not)

I wonder what we're going to see for post-SuperBowl sales.

Oh my . . . TL. . .. but did read. Smilie

You know what? Just buy it since it can be returned anyway. Then you can audition it, make some settings, and decide.
We just bought the 55U8G for $643 price match a month ago. It is all I expected and more. We use it as our main TV for streaming, OTA broadcast TV channels, 4K Blu-ray and DVD. It upscales very well, I did have to return the first one and never even set it up. It got dropped on it's face and then on it's back by the young lad attempting to load it into my truck and not paying attention to the wind that day.
So BB ordered me another one. Working great, very little DSE that I really have to look for in order to see it and only on "test screens".
The UI is snappy, settings needed very little tweaking especially for Theater Night. I used both some Youtube SDR, and HDR tests to make some settings settings as well as media assisted using two Blu-ray test discs.

I wanted something newer and faster responding since buying the Hisense 55H8F in 2019 and it is still working and has a great picture. But the processor is s-l-o-w and you have to accomodate that. I don't game on it, just general TV viewing (off antenna), streaming, 4K Blu-ray, etc.
The H8F is fitfully slow at times and, really, worked better with the Roku Ultra I got for a half price deal 2 years ago.

So my advice, buy what you want now before the deal gets away. . .. again. Only some people got the $250 gift card deal BTW. Many got cancelled or told outright. . . Nope.

Bought a 65" H9F, they forced an update that bricked my TV and refused to fix it because it was out of warranty. Had to contact Hisense through Reddit, who in turn told them to fix the TV when they talked to the supervisors for me. Very roundabout way and if it wasn't for Reddit and ridiculous amount of research, I would have had a $900 paperweight. I'm avoiding at all costs, but just a heads up, extra warranty may be a good idea.
