How do I know this? Because I am in the market for a new tv after cracking my old one during a move doing. Exactly what you are attempting 🤣

What brand and model? Many of the earlier 1080p models are built much better than today's entry level sets. And their picture many times rivals cheap 4k sets, especially for cable and satellite native feeds.
Those were 10bit panels. Much better parts than what you have today.
Did everybody hate the tv and return it?? 😆

My comments unfortunately are buried under all this chatter. I'll reply here…
I've had my set for about a month now, very happy with the brightness and rather wide viewing angle for a VA panel. The wide angle capability is no doubt aided by how dang large the screen is.
As with others, I own other smaller TCL Roku TVs, and would have preferred that over GoogleTV, but I use an AppleTV 4K with this. Using the HDMI CEC feature, it works well with the power button on Apple's newly designed remote.
The sound coming out is thing is quite good. Better than the built in speakers in on my main viewing OLED in the living room.
