I had call with ATT loyalty department, they are offering Samsung phones for good discount. This is 24month contract with one time payment

S21 : $199 - $50 one time credit.
S21 FE : $149
S20 FE: $1
NOTE series is not available.

You can take S21 for $150 and wait to s22 release then trade-in. Last year for S21 release Samsung gave $700 credit for S20 model.

Please heed the advice of others in this thread. After reading the advice, I called in to make certain there would be no plan changes or additional charges. First rep said no absolutely not, then came back on the line and said upon researching further, an access fee of $40 would be charged from now on. Luckily was able to cancel before this happened -- ONLY because I was lucky and had not agreed to terms of service. Manager that I eventually spoke to said most people aren't even aware of the changes that will happen. Really, really poor training. MAKE SURE YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE SIGNING UP FOR.




About Above statement:
I was a former low level executive reasponsible for a large sales team at ATT, what you're talking about is the old Mobile Share / Mobile share value plans. Access fees for many of them are $40 per line, with a $25 discount for being out of contract (or bringing your own phone or financing your phone on their NEXT program at the time).
Since getting a 2yr contract with subsidy is only available through retentions this piece isn't hightlighted anywhere anymore. So while the rep is absolutley correct that your plan doesn't change at all, losing the discount is an automatic hardwired process that they will not be able to change at will, and if they're not familar enough with the nuences of an old plan they won't know.

TLDR;If you sign a contract and you're on one of these old mobile share (value) plans ($40 -$25 = $15 per line) you will lose this discount if you sign. No matter what the rep says.If you're on literally any other plan you're fine.

Outside of this Loyalty deal, if one buys unlocked phone directly from say Samsung or something, do they still upgrade you to the Unlimited plan? I am on shared data, rollover plan and do not want to go to Unlimited plan and hence holding back on upgrading my Galaxy S8.

If you buy an unlocked phone AT&T has no power to change your plan and that's a great way to keep your old plans .

Not true with a deal from the loyalty department. It's an old school 24 month contract. The early cancellation fee is very low though. I got an iPhone 11 for $200 two years ago and the early cancellation fee was never more than $200 and went down each month.

Be there done that too many times
Be sure and get something in writing before switching only to find out the price has changed or your old sweetheart plan is no longer available

Did the S20FE deal earlier. Pretty happy with it although $45 upgrade fee showed up even though rep said hed waive it. Att gave me $30 back from chat, so I only got a little ripped

They don't know and then your stuck i got upgrade year ago was lied to and stuck with them for another year. I was in charge of phones at my co. Fir 20 years and hv never been misinformed as att does to customers now they don't help you I lost my discount on phone after upgrading

I agree ATT service is bad sometimes. ALWAYS goto the FCC website and raise an issue. The office of the CEO calls you and sorts it out pronto.

Honestly it's the same deal as they are running on the website right now. Your s10+ is definitely valid for the 800 right now as long as its working. For me I've decided to wait until the s22 series drops and upgrade then. Apparently att gives this 800 offer basically constantly now. Sometimes 1000 for the higher end phones. Hoping for the 1000 off s22 ultra for me.
