i'm 4 months in, coming from the 3a to 5a, and hate this thing. I swear the 2 year old 3a performed daily tasks more reliably.
The camera and battery are better, but overall it's not much of an upgrade. I never thought I'd consider moving to an iphone, but this thing has me cursing android.
Strange. I went from the 3 to the 5a and think it's a significant upgrade (except for lack of wireless charging). I'm really enjoying the 5a.
Waiting for $299 without Fi, just plain unlocked.

I upgraded from a 3XL to a 5a (battery on the 3XL was failing and I was getting random reboots). I paid $399.

The 3XL was lighter and a bit wider. I don't like the narrowing of phones these days. The 5A is an OK phone, especially for the price of $299.

I want a phone like those that they show on The Expanse! Smilie

The 6 is an excellent value *top tier* phone today (and that's not including the sick deals that have popped up since November).
I'd wait for the Pixel 7. Never buy the first year of anything. It will likely take Google until the Pixel 7 comes out to clear the bugs on the 6.

Switched from the 3A to 5A and it has been night and day, battery life is the best I have ever had in a phone. Camera is great. All Google Fi promotions worked easily and their chat agents are always there and help if you need them.

lack of wireless charging was an annoying surprise.

Android 12 is a mess and is what comes pre-installed on these so you will have to be a little techy and flash Android 11 instead of just waiting for google to get it's .... together...
I got mine about a month ago and it came stock with Android 11. Had to OTA upgrade to 12

YMMV on the Fi promotions. I bought a sim preloaded with $60 to include first month of unlimited service. For whatever reason they applied the bill credits to the second billing statement and not the first. Small annoyance since it extends the time I'm committed to Fi and I basically prepaid 2 mos of service instead of one.

Interesting. I got mine December 2nd from the Google store and it came with Android 12 already installed. Prior to realizing how buggy it was, I was most disappointed because they got rid of the ability to use the power button to get to home controls quickly and replaced it with a shortcut to Google assistant. I can already get to Google assistant by speaking, swiping or a variety of other methods so I don't get the need to nix the old power button functionality.

I had a OP7 pro and moved to the 5a and it's been my least favorite device ever. It feels like I stepped down. YMMV I guess

For the same price, the s21 would be a no brainer for me.

I would highly recommend this phone over the 6. The only thing the 6 had over the 4a was the camera and screen. Such a waste

Any opinions on this versus the Samsung S21 that's also on sale for $299? Coming from a Pixel 3.

Why so you think? I think apart from Chipset does the s21 really kills the 5a? The battery is a stellar in 5a

120hz screen, wireless charging, 8gb ram vs 6gb, telephoto lens. The extra ram and faster chipset theoretically makes it a little more future proof, but who knows how long samsung will keep updating.
