You need to upload copy of their SSN card and another form of ID at the end for verification.
"To open and monitor your teen's account, you'll need to open one for yourself first."
I don't have an account with them.

Dont really like these account since there are no money market to wait out turmoil which all 401k has. There are no precious metal fund. The US debt is simply too massive so that is why you are seeing higher interest rate so will impact market for many years. market will go up another 2-3 years.

Huh? Uninvested cash goes into SPAXX, which is a Fidelity® Government Money Market Fund and has a 7-day yield of 4.98% right now (for people not good at math, that's almost 5%).

Same. It took a 30 minute phone call with them to finally get the bonus.

Greenlight lets you do any age. Kids get their own debit card, you can assign chores within the app for them to do and get paid, they can also invest. Miles ahead what these other kid accounts are trying to do.

Fidelity does a lot of esg and dei with their index funds. Something to keep if you're not a fan of identity politics

Sad and destructive when they do that.

$50 is a drop in the ocean compared to the many benefits of having an app that:
1. Encourages kids to build a strong work ethic by doing chores without reminders, which is a big win for everyone. ✅ 🥳
2. Allows you to set a % for spend, save, give, so when you approve their payday, everything's automatic. 🪣 💵
3. Allows them to use their savings to buy stocks, with your approval, encouraging great discussions along the way. E.g.: My daughter wanted to buy stock in Bumble because she likes bees. 🐝 😆
* Stocks have WAY more potential to grow then a savings account or CD. 💹 🤑

The potential values are endless. Check it out:

On a related note, I would highly highly recommend this book that explains how money works with easy to understand visuals.

I agree with much of this. But teaching/allowing your kid to invest in individual stocks sounds like an absolutely awful idea. Only professionals should be investing in individual stocks.

I'm gonna do this for our 14-yo son. I thought about getting him an account back when they were offering $100 bonus accounts for anyone but it didn't have all the youth benefits.

I've had a Fidelity account for a long time, ever since getting their 2% rebate credit card. I like Fidelity a lot and if it weren't so much hassle, would move my Vanguard money over because I greatly prefer the Fidelity website and account reporting interface.
Man, I really don't like the Vanguard interface

Clever.... that could cause many immature young folks to spend more money because they think they are making money.
That stood out to me as well. I simply won't be informing my 13 YO of this particular perk. Hopefully the app doesn't highlight it. I don't want him to get the wrong impression and start spending like crazy thinking "Calm down, Dad, I'm MAKING money when I spend it!" Big Grin

Does this account generate interest? I didn't see any mention of an interest rate in all the things I read about it, so I assume not?

529 plan

529's, which purpose is to cover education related expenses beyond high school, just recently became much more enticing to invest in with the ability to convert any unused funds to essentially a Roth IRA account for your child. This conversion limit is currently 35k and applicable after the account has been open for 15 years. The conversion limits are likely to be adjusted over time for inflation. I originally invested in just one 529 in my oldest child's name as they beneficiary can be changed to my other child at any time if there are excess funds, but have since opened a second one in my youngest's name to take advantage of the conversion option.
