Annoying... This model is XT286SM1 and more store has pallets of XT287SM1 which is not at clearance but otherwise looks the same

287 is replacing 286 (which is why it's on clearance) due to the trimmer in that kit being phased out and replaced with XRU23. Makita has a wild number of variations and generations of tools out there.

HD doesn't take returns or make adjustments for clearance items afaik.

You should be able to return if you are within 90 days.. but they're not going to let you read by exactly what you return. You have to find the item on the shelf again

I would jump on this if I didn't already have a bunch of Craftsman stuff that do what I need....but on the other hand Craftsman doesn't make a coffeemaker

wow, I know this is a ymmv, in store hunt, but this is so much cheaper than the Milwaukee M18 products even on sale - $90 for fuel blower, $250-$270 for Quik Lok string trimmer.

I guess Milwaukee my perform better and have Quik Lok and the attachments??

This is a fantastic set. The blower is significantly more powerful than my neighbors Greenworks and Ryobis. The trimmer is pretty powerful as well and both are power efficient, never had to change a 3.0aH battery working my half acre yard.
