These are 1.7 Ah batteries. That does not seem like "50% more power in a 25% more compact battery."

What's the deal with these so-called PowerStack batteries? Regular price of $189 seems high, especially consider it's 1.7Ah. At that price I would expect something like 2x5Ah.
Did someone use this PS battery before? How long does it last compared to a regular 2Ah? Realistically would you expect a 1.7Ah battery to last as long as, say, a regular 4Ah?
Think of the Powerstack batteries as high output compact batteries. Some tools benefit from high output batteries and compact high output batteries are nice to have around. My best example is the new compact impact wrenches. My first try with the wrench wasn't amazing since the battery was hanging as far out as a short socket. This is now not the case with the Compact powerstacks. I will get full power with the powerstack compared to the regular compact batteries.

Well it depends on what regular batteries you are using. I can't imagine this outperforms a 5ah XR battery.

Similar deal, but I took the jigsaw instead.

Guess it's a good deal if you need the PowerStack batteries, but if not feels like we've seen a lot better deals on the normal 5Ah batteries.

Nice. Got the rotary hammer drill. I need to also grab a spade bit to help with planting trees in thick clay. Along with the $99 7 tool 20V deal. I think I am now FLUSH with power tools.
If we all get the 7 tool deal

https://www.protoolreviews.com/de...echnology/

The rating, e.g. 1.7A, is basically the amount of electricity it holds. 2.0A is more than 1.7A, so obviously the latter holds more.

They probably mean more "instantaneous power draw". Like might bulbs, batteries that can deliver more watts per second can light brighter, higher wattage bulbs. But the runtime is still limited by the Amps of the battery.

While the use of flat cells like recent battery cars and phones is going to allow for more compact batteries at every amp size, and potentially more recharge cycles before it dies, in the end, it's a very expensive, small battery.

They're very similar - see the Project Farm test.

Basically you get more or less 5ah power from a smaller 1.7ah battery. Pretty cool, but not appealing at the normal asking price.

Picked mine up. I have tons of 5ah batteries, they are too bulky at times and my 2ah XR don't last for jack. I'm incredibly surprised how compact these are. Almost the same size as my 3ah 12v DeWalt batteries. Needless to say, I'm excited to try them out. Price seemed more than reasonable for the latest and greatest technology, plus I picked up that rotary hammer I've been wanting forever!

These were reviewed thoroughly by "Project Farm" recently on YouTube. They have the power delivery of a 5aH battery, but dont last very long at all due to their small capacity. In fact, they last shorter than the regular batteries with the same capacity.

Will these batteries work with the $99 7 tool deal from last night? Not that I need to be spending any more money, but a free $200 tool sounds nice haha.

I was able to make this deal a bit slicker. Home Depot has the double pack of batteries on a special buy for $179. Lowes.com chat customer service price matched HomeDepot.com and still honored the free tool deal. Overall I got the double pack of batteries and a brushless jigsaw for $179 with free store pickup at a local Lowe's. Good luck everybody!

Not sure how great Lowe's price match normally is so this might be YMMV.
