The worst spec here is only 8GB memory, soldered, and apparently no empty lots. I'm holding out for a 16GB deal and pay a bit more, but thought I'd share.

Using this for WFH where I use a remote desktop, is the extra $110 over https://slickdeals.net/f/15598207-lenovo-thinkbook-13s-g3-13-3-fhd-ips-ryzen-5-5600u-16gb-lpddr4x-512gb-pcie-ssd-win10-pro-649-99-f-s?src=catpagev2 worth it?

I am assuming the X13 has a better build? But I am not sure its worth it since it has 8GB (vs 16) and 256GB (vs 512)?

ThinkBook will also good for your needs but is 13 inch laptop itself good for RDP?

Should have specified I connect it to a larger monitor, so I am looking for the 13-14" screensize for portability when I travel, screen size won't affect day to day work.

ThinkBook would be better for future proofing and since you are using external monitors and perhaps keyboard too, build quality wouldn't be that bad

Just the opposite. The Thinkpad is better because is has thunderbolt and HDMI, with the Xe IGP you can then connect to 2 external monitors + laptop display. The Thinkbook only has HDMI out. The Thinkpad also has better wifi and build quality.

8GB kills it. There are solutions for supporting 2 external monitors. So, that is not an issue. The person explicitly said he uses external monitor and I in my answer explicitly said *I am assuming him using external KB and Mouse as well* in which case, the build quality difference will be moot. The 16 vs 8GB is the real kicker here

Seems like a good deal for Thinkpad. 8GB sucks. Does anyone know if Windows 11 will be easy to upgrade? The website only says Win 10 Pro, nothing about 11. But Windows website does confirm this laptop will work with Windows 11.
I presume its like Windows 10, log into microsoft account and request free upgrade?

8GB is fine for the general productivity user, but, agree, 16gb would go a long way to future proof any PC. Regarding Windows, I have a couple of Thinkpads running Windows 10 and both have prompted me to upgrade to Windows 11 (I declined), so I would expect these to give a new user the option as well.
