Honestly this tool is pretty useless, it's not fit for things you would use a grinder for and anything it's remotely good at just takes way too long and it's very underpowered. The only redeeming thing about this tool is the option to reverse the rotation of the blade. Other than that I'd take a hack saw, jig saw or a $15 HF grinder over this.

I have this tool and it's amazing, especially for a homeowner, enough power to cut anything a DIYer might want.
It come with 1 metal cut off wheel, 1 carbide abrasive blade, 1 diamond tile blade

If you need a wood blade, the following blade fits perfectly

Don't buy this if you don't know for sure where to use it. I'm a big Milwaukee fan, I own so many tools from Milwaukee, and this one is on the top of my regret list, and I'm stuck with it. I have a M18 fuel grinder, a lot more powerful and useful than this little weak thing.

Anyone here use this for automotive use?
I was going to use this to put a hatch on in my truck bed so I could access the pump.
Turned out not to be the pump so I never chopped it up.

However I have cut 1/8th inch steel with this for a few different projects.

I'm on the fence about getting this, but I'm a homeowner that has no idea where I would use this tool. I already got the hackzall with rotary tool deal, but the only situation where I think I could possibly use this in the house is to cut out a drywall section for repair, but I was planning on using a multi-tool for that already. I think it's a deal based on the discounted price, but can any comment on situations you would use this in the home as a DIYer?
Use your multi tool for drywall. This is ideal for tile and masonry purposes. I dedicated cut-off saw is better and more practical for repeatedly cutting pipes.

I prefer something like this for hardy board (cement board/tile backer) or for cutting grout or repointing tile/bricks like a chimney but a angle grinder can do that too. The practical uses for this is very specialized (that can't be done as well or as easily with another tool) or the compulsive buyer that needs all the tools

What are you cutting with it regularly? Genuinely curious
Well, I warned you they were stupid things lol. Needed stand offs to keep some metal off the floor in the garage, so I just I cut some tiny pieces of wood. Had a bunch of cardboard I needed to fit in the garbage. I think normal people usually use this for wire grate/mess of sorts or sheet metal.

Either way, better than taking out a full size angle grinder/circular saw I imagine.

I got the the ridgid bare too version for 79. used mines to cut damaged threads on a mass air flow sensor bolt. Also to cut up a metal clothing rack. This has more control for making cuts were space and weight of tool would matter. Could I have found a different tool probably. This tool is going to be speciality tool forsure.

I watched a review of all 3 version. Ridgid ryobi and m12. M12 was the most underpowered of the 3. The nay sayer said it was due to m12 cut off safety feature. Safety or not if it can't do the job it's not worth it

For those looking for a use case, it worked great for retrofitting an outlet into a tiled bathroom wall — grinder would have been clumsy, multitool would take forever, sawzall could shatter the tile and make a mess. Conduit would be another use (as some have mentioned) — haven't used it for that myself. Not something you'll use as often as other tools, but nice to have in certain situations.

Do you have a link to the review. I'm contemplating on getting this for automotive work as my pneumatic cut off tool can be a pain sometimes.

Yeah I've basically a full metal shop out in the garage and this just doesn't make sense for my type of work.

I have one here for $119. Should I get it? I don't do a lot of DYI but I do occasionally need to cut a 2x4 to leanght or split a 4x8 piece of plywood. BTW, what's up with all these tools deals?
I bought this a few months ago with that same mindset... Absolutely useless tool to me now... I use the m12 hacksaw more often . Or now a table saw as I'm starting to woodwork more.

It can't take any pressure as soon as you put a decent load on it the safety shuts it down.

To compare this tool to a full size angle grinder, you can handle this with just one hand and change the rotation direction of the cutting disc to control throw of sparks and the stability/kickback of disc on stocks.

I've been waiting for this tool to come down to $130-140. At this price,... automatic!

Plan to use it for plaster removal first...

Can this at all be used as a makeshift mini angle grinder, but only for abrasive, sanding, flap and wire wheels, to remove rust, paint, crud, etc., especially from car parts, frames and underbodies? And if so, how does it compare for such uses to their right angle die grinder? I have a proper 4-1/2" angle grinder but it's corded and getting it to the car, which is parked on the street as we don't have a garage or driveway we can use, is a PITA with multiple extension cords and the risk of passersby tripping on it.
