This seems like a crazy low price for a name brand thermal imaging monocular. According to Adorama regular price is $3795 but these go online for $2500 - $2800 on a normal day.

Note - Field of view information
These thermal viewers have a limited field of view that buyers should consider.
Examples:
OTM 130/136, Horizontal field of view: 16ยฐ, View at 20ft: ~2.8 ft, View at 300ft: ~42ft.
OTM 230/236, Horizontal field of view: 12ยฐ, View at 20ft: ~2.1 ft, View at 300ft: ~31ft.

To consider the detect/identification distance of thermal signatures (human, animal, car), divide view field size by 320 (horizontal pixels of sensor) to estimate how many ft/inches each pixel would represent at that distance. For example, the OTM 136 would barely see a squirrel at 300ft, due to each pixel being 1.5" of length, and you would not recognize it as a squirrel.

I take everything you say with a huge grain of salt. You say it just because whatever they give you is conditioned that you remove your negative feedback. FLIR didnt sell me shit, Adorama was the one selling me stuff and they are responsible for whatever they sell. Was it you or someoneelse that contacted FLIR and were told this were used and they have no idea how or why Adorama sells them as new.Manufacturer would recondition better than just leaving drained battery in the battery pack and random pics on the lenses. I dont believe what you saying

They are not replacing anything. FLIR told buyers to return to Adorama. Adorama sent used listed as new and now trying to save face. Most likely they got reported and crap hit the fan

Hi Binar, we're very sorry for the error and inconvenience, and hope you can reconsider. We understand that you bought it from us and not directly from FLIR, but you can see from the letter that it was not our intention to sell used/refurb as new. It was both Adorama and FLIRs intentions that we were buying new units and they were sending us new units. We are doing what we can to fix this for all.

You are responsible for what you sell on your site..Amazon was investigated for fakes sold by 3rd party, Bestbuy for exactly what you just did by marking new some returned/opened /used items, Alibaba for fakes sold by 3rd parties etc. You can demand the manufacturer to replace all orders with brand new unit or not sell their products anymore if they truly did it without you knowing (again 75% off lasted long enough for this bad batch to sell). Where are they going to go and sell their gear? To opticsplanet that has a subpar site and no traffic?

THIS^^^ My OTM136 just landed back at returns today, IF I could get a BRAND NEW unit I would rather have that than a refund.

Agreed. I do want this item, and it's a shame it turned into this ordeal. I'll hold off on using the RMA label a little longer because I would prefer a replacement rather than a refund.

If FLIR doesn't have any new stock to replace my OTM236, I'd accept a substitution of a OTM266 Or OTM366 ๐Ÿ˜€

watch it, that was last time Adorama's social media specialist posted in this thread. What you got you got for 75% because this is how much was worth. They probably sold A LOT if they feel the need to excuse their behavior and pass the blame from one to another. They are not going to take 1.5k loss on a brand new unit. Hold your RMA and you might not be able to return anything. This deals bank on ppl's greed ...

Statement from Flir is complete BS if you ask me. If you accidentally "combined" your shit returns with new products then how did everyone here receive used shit? I have seen no record of anyone here saying they received a new product.

TLDR - FLIR and Adorama should make this right for us, I will be contacting them this week, and there is at least 1 reddit thread that mentioned this deal who I notified of the issues.

I bought the OTM 236 at 67% off through Amazon and received a B stock unit when I thought I was buying brand new. Lots of bizarre issues with it and I luckily came back to this thread to see if anyone was experiencing issues. Really glad I did and returned it immediately.

My experience was similar to others and I received my refund 3 days ago. I am going to reach out to FLIR and find out what they will be doing to make this "right" for customers that returned the products. In my opinion, if FLIR is going to issue the letter of apology, they should do something for the customers since you can buy directly from them. The same should occur with Adorama, again if they sold the unit, then they should do something for the customers.

This is easy for Adorama and FLIR to fix. They simply need customers to show they previously bought one of the defective cameras, and either returned it or kept it and now want what they originally thought they bought. We all have that proof in our invoices/emails. Then they arrange for the deal the customer originally purchased.

If FLIR or Adorama does not make this happen, then this means there was no accident, this was intentional and as many people as possible should be notified as possible. I will reach out to FLIR this week and find out what they are willing to do.

On a separate tangent, there is at least one reddit thread (r/gundeals) that had the adorama FLIR sale listed. I posted in there to let them know they should be aware of the issue, referenced this thread and consider returning the product if they are still able to do so.

Ok, any more recent information on this debacle?

Adorama wanted me to send the unit back in to them - and they will replace the defective unit with new stock WHEN they receive new stock from FLIR.

That is all well and good, but before I send the unit back in to Adorama - I want a guarantee that I will get a REPLACEMENT ---- not a REFUND!

What are you all doing?

Chatter was really slow, but I was finally offered $50 discount if I kept the used unit- I countered $75, they said no. Mulled it over and decided to ship it back for a refund. Good luck to everyone who keeps it!
