that's a 600 dollar prime lens, making the camera just about 1.3k. this is not some crappy kit lens that you often find with camera bundles.
i am surprised this is not get more attention, personally speaking, this is a much better deal than the previous MFT sale.

Killer deal and I love mine, run it with the BMD Video Assist 12g and images are fantastic, especially with the LUMIX glass… but newer sigma glass L-mount glass is exceptional too… I don't use it for vlogging but AF has been snappy and clean for my needs. Got it for $1,699 during Xmas sales, at this price with the 85, it's a smoking deal. Richard Wong does great comparisons and demos with the S5 on YouTube, lots of AF stuff on different glass for those that are curious.

There is a similar deal for that same combination of 85+ 20-60 as listed in this other SD thread with other stores (Adorama as well):

So for $300 more than this deal, you get a 20-60 lens that is listed for about $600. That may be a good deal IF:

1) You want to have that 20-60 f/3.5-5.6 for shorter focal length shooting that you would not use your 85/1.8 lens for

2) You will sell that 20-60 for something between $400-$500 -- bringing your effective price to below the $1900 of this deal

3) You plan to buy another lens with a shorter focal length after selling that 20-60 (this may also cost the same as that 20-60--or more if you get better quality prime lenses in the 24mm to 50mm range--which can be about $600+, e.g. for some of the Sigma prime L lenses). You would then get the shorter focal length lens you want for less because you've sold off the 20-60.

Search for reviews of the 20-60 to see what testing shows about it--it seems to have good reviews. Some may prefer the optical quality of single focal length lenses rather than the flexibility of a zoom.

Panasonic is supposed to be better on ergonomics and have sensible menu structure. Haven't shot either. Just read a lot.
I want to downsize to mirrorless from a D750 and D7500 setup. Would like FF but with the still big lens sizes may go APC potentially MFT.

Good deal..keep in mind though that the 85mm is a fairly long focal length for general use. Its more of a portrait lens and close up detailed shots. Not ideal in tight spaces.

All depends on your priorities. If you're a more casual shooter who wants small size and good video autofocus, yes the a7C would be better. If you want a much better-handling body, dual cards for backup, and/or are a more advanced video shooter, the S5 is your choice.

Both are great cams and many would be happy with either.

A7C has the best AF of any camera I've every used, by quite a bit. I sold it when the A7riii went on super-sale over the holidays, and I do miss that AF and small size a bit.

The kit lens on the A7C is quite good for a walk-around option. Compared to the Canon 17-40L, the 28-60 kit was optically better IMO.

All of that said, the S5 gives users the cheapest "Leica-centric" FF body around and puts them into that ecosystem of lenses. This seems like a great deal.

I was holding out for A7C, but if I'm mainly taking family photos, would you recommend S5 or A7C?

Having owned a couple of these cameras for the past year, they're really solid. Especially for the price.

For the video users:
Crop sensor in 4k60p. But you can also get full frame 5.9k out and record it. Anamorphic options. Dual iso (clean at 4000). Focus peaking, zebras and plenty of function buttons to set your own settings. Ibis stabilization is great, even better with the dual ibis combination of pani lenses and sensor. Dual recording. Battery life is good for the size of the battery. Overall I've loved this camera. Auto focus isn't going to be as good as the others but works okay for simple scenes. I run it with the fotodiox variable nd l mount to canon ef mount which is really convenient for run in gun situations.

Great performance but I haven't loved it for sports with fast moving action. You also have to worry about moire since it doesn't have a filter that helps reduce that. For portraits where certain materials in clothing have issues, this can be annoying.

Overall, the price is great. Lmount is gaining some traction. 20-60 is worth it for $300. It's really light weight and the 20mm vs 24 is handy. Plus you get the dual stabilization. Unless you're set on buying something like the sigma 24-70 2.8, get the kit lens. I do like the colors out of these cameras and I feel like vlog is one of the better flat profiles to grade in video.

If you want smallish/light and FF, you should go with Sony. Tamron's line up of Zoom lenses(17-28/28-75/70-180/70-300) are very small/light compared to a traditional set of FF lenses(16-35/24-70/70-200/70-300).
