Man I'd be jumping on these if I could use the damn nest app with them. Come on google! Either enable backwards compatibility or add all nest app features to google home.
Cameras are great. But the app sucks and ruins the whole experience. I have 3 old cameras on nest app that work great. The two new on google home in combination with the app just suck.
Seems those prices are the same on google and bestbuy.com as well.

So is the new model compatible with the Nest app since many complain about the Google Home app?

It seems like the consensus is no. And that is very disappointing I have 5 of the old nest cameras with the Nest app and my thermostats as well. I want more nest cameras but if they are going to be in another app, I might as well use a different (read: cheaper) brand.

What's the gold standard for wireless/battery outdoor cams, is it still the Eufy 2C or is something else better?

Just an FYI. I was looking at home camera systems recently moving into a new home and my priority was (1) being able to view live feeds via the app and (2) not paying a subscription fee

The Blink security system is $235 right now at Costco which includes 3 outdoor cameras, 1 indoor camera, doorbell, and floodlight mount.

I just got a couple Nest IQs, it shows up on my Nest app along with my Nest doorbell. Is there an older Nest app that I'm missing ?

The Nest iq models are last generation/discontinued models and do work on the Nest app. The newest cameras, from this post, do Not work in the Nest app.

I just bought the 2 pack outdoor camera and the doorbell at kohls for $457 (this includes taxes in florida) and I am getting $21.50 in kohls rewards as well as $80 in kohls cash to be used Feb 22 - 27 and an additional $5 for picking up instead of delivery. So I effectively got these $350.50, which is a decently slick deal for me. Edit: they also sent me a 20% off coupon for Feb 25-27.

1 year EXTENDED !?!?!? warranty is scary, hope the world doesn't evolve into a place where that is acceptable. 1 year is standard

Yeah - i got a 4-pack of these from Google (and returned 2 of them) still trying to find a good use for the 2 that I kept!!
It is so annoying to have to use a totally separate app than all our other "Nest" cameras - and the battery version will only record "EVENTS" and doesn't have a full view of everything happening. I often use these to monitor animals outdoors and even w/ the highest sensitivity set and the setting to track "animals", it seems to miss tons of animals (chickens, cats, rats, possum) and when I put it somewhere where there is foot traffic (out my front door) the battery only seems to last about 1 week.

The only good thing about this is that if you can keep it plugged in it will record everything for the whole day (in the Google Home app) - but the cable is short and not really suitable for outdoor usage...

The Google Nest app is only "good" because it worked for the time. Yes, the migration to the Home app is slow and clunky but for Google to provide 100% security it was always going to be a long, tedious process.

2022 they already promised a REAL Doorbell upgrade (the Nest Hello is already great to me), and new cameras.

They also said the new Home web-app will blow away what you've seen from the Nest home webpage.

I have both the current indoor and outdoor cams. I am an early adopter of dropcam/nest/google cams and overall I feel like they have gotten better with each new version. I agree that the nest app was awesome and the conversion to google home kinda stinks. The only complaint I have is that the battery backup doesn't last very long, on the outdoor cam. I am sure I could have optimized it a little by messing with the quality/playback settings but I have it plugged in primarily so I didn't bother. Video quality is decent, night vision quality is so so, especially at long distance. Overall happy and plan to pick up a couple more in the future.
