Thanks, got one from Amazon for my MIL.

I debating between giving her this or a French press for her 1 coffee/day habit.

Does anyone have a recommendation on ease of use and cleaning? I'm leaning towards giving her the French press because the learning curve is lower… but it's a bit of a pain to clean.

cleanup is simple, either toss the coffee filter in the trash/compost or, if like me you dont use one, dump the grinds in the trash/compost. swirl some water in the pour over, dry upside down. about one a week/month i take that cork off and then put it in the dishwasher

I picked up one of these when they were on sale at Target back at Christmas. Makes a decent carafe of coffee. Doesn't stay hot long on its own, but that's usually only a weekend problem since we split it up into insulated travel mugs as soon as it's done brewing most days.

Finely ground coffee can get stuck in the mesh and be a pain to clean out if you put the grounds directly into the filter basket, but it's super easy to clean if you use Melita #4 paper filters.

If you prefer the cork version it's a few bucks more on Amazon

I wouldn't get either. Get the oxo single cup brewer [amazon.com]. I've had a lot of coffee makers of all different types, this one is the best for single cup drip. So easy to clean and use.

I have a French press, chemex, aeropress, Hario v60 and Gaggia Classic.

Of all of these…. My Hario V60 gets the most use followed by the Gaggia. The Chemex is nice (similar to the Bodum) if I'm making enough for two or more people. But, for a single cup it's hands down the Hario.

I recommend the cheaper plastic Hario over the ceramic. The ceramic is beautiful, but it draws the heat away from the coffee during the pour over. The plastic does not. The cleanup is super easy. Throw out the filter and rinse the Hario under the faucet. Maybe wash it once every week or two.

Also, it does come down to taste preference.

My wife got me one of these for Christmas and I use it all of the time. I'm a fan of Stanley mugs and she got me this because of the brand, it just turned out to be a very good product. And it's metal so I will either lose it or will it to a kid. And it's really easy to take apart and clean.

I have this and use it every day. Works well with great value #2 cone filters. More involved than a French press, but it also tastes much better than FP.

Maybe I'm missing something, but every link except the Bodum link is NOT double walled just single layer of glass. Can someone confirm?
