Bought this last time around (except with 1440p 120hz screen) but as an open box for $1150. It's a great pc, runs warm pretty much all the time but that's expected with everything under the hood in its small profile. It's completely replaced using my desktop for music production and I highly recommend it at this price or even better, if u find an open box
You can manually adjust fan settings in their included Armory Crate software and it runs much cooler. Easy to do even for a non technical person. The stock settings emphasize silence over performance.

This is the best laptop I've ever owned. I use it for mining & gaming simultaneously for less demanding games, and mining the rest of the time to passively accumulate digital gold.

Can you replace the gpu on these laptops? If not, mining on them might not best the best idea for long term durability.

Had the first gen first batch with QC issues, considered getting the second gen, and then I saw the upcoming gen. Folks, the new one is going to be pretty significant in the upgrades. If you don't need it now, and if your budget allows, you might hold out for the second. A few of the uplifts: 6800S GPU (should be somewhere between 3070 lower wattage and 3080 lower wattage), 6900HS (as expected gen to gen), 100W USB-C charging, 16:10 resolution, DDR5 mem, improved cooling, and a webcam. Pretty significant strides. Like I said, if you have the time to wait and the budget to allow. Otherwise this is still a fine deal.

Personally, I wouldn't get a mobility laptop without a webcam. Sure, there are workarounds but in this day and age, I'd rather have it built in simply bc when I'm videoconferencing I'm often doing something like texting on my phone. This was something I found utterly strange about these laptops, that Asus would save the few bucks to leave out a component that has become standard on laptops. I would wait for the 2022 model which will have it.
I'm not even turn on anyway. Only use webcam on iPad and phone so this doesn't matter to me.

Personally I would recommend the rog flow 13. I used Best Buy to test about 5-6 open box laptops ranging from the rog flow 13 (which I kept) the rog 14, rog 15, rog 16, razer 14, Msi stealth I think… I forget. The Rog 14 felt too plastic and trying to be a gamer rog but cheap. The rog 15 was a powerhouse, true desktop replacement but it felt chonky. The 16 was a better built version of the 15 but weaker specs. The 2022 version seems to address all that. The razer is amazing aside from the screen and price. You need to pay an extra $500 to get a decent screen. The msi was just too bargain oriented.

The rog flow 13 is TINY. Is a convertible with a touch screen and pen support. Has a webcam and 16:10 aspect like the rog 16. Shares the Ryzen 9 of its big brothers but weaker 3050ti. Charges using a usb-c port.

As long as you are not a triple a title, next gen, top of the line, max everything, rgb gamer… it's a tiny beast! Best Buy open box usually drops to about $1150-1200 which is what I jumped on.

I missed this one last time and ended up getting the M15 with the 240hz screen, also for music production, and absolutely love it, especially compared to my dell I had before. Great machines for gaming as well, and I've been able to do 3d rendering on top of that.
M15 is a better machine with that awesome screen

Thanks for that. I cannot find the rog flow 13 on bestbuys website at all. Only the one with the GPU and one that is coming soon. Do you have a link?

It's a gaming laptop. For most gamers it's more important to have a faster refresh rate than more pixels. Now that's not to say you can't have both. It's just hard to find a 4K +60hz for anywhere near this price point. You get what you pay for. I'm this case it's 1080p.

Is it hard to read the letters on the keys, considering the light colors they chose on the entire keyboard?

I guess the argument is a 3rd party webcam will be much better quality than a built in. But it's still a mistake to leave it out.
