- Sight lines (though cut-outs in blade guards are getting much better)
- Where the chips/sawdust fly (somewhat negated if the saw has dust collection)
- How you set up and hold your cuts (which side is the cut-off)
- Where your hands and body are in relation to the blade
- What you are accustomed to using

You seem to value sight lines above everything else and that is fine, for you. But there are many other attributes to consider, and with new saws having nice cutouts for viewing the cut line, the sight line argument isn't as important as it once was. It is really up to each individual user to determine which side they would prefer the blade to be on.
