I bought this same camera 2 months ago for $169.00 on sale.
It has worked well and the solar has kept it charged. The software is easy to setup and to use.
No monthly fee....

I work in law enforcement in an area of about 400k people in my jurisdiction. Over the last 8 years, I've never heard of a security camera being stolen off a house that was attached.

We have had doorbell cameras taken (only 2 that I can recall) and game cameras from peoples properties, but never a security camera that is attached to a house/structure.

Failrly direct sun needed to charge.
I have the camera on the front of my office bulding and that part is in the shade until late afternoon. I angled he camera at abut a 10 degree angle and on a sunny day it will charge up 1-2%. No change in image qulity with it angled. I anticipate each day as we get further into spring and summer with higher sun angle and longer days it will keep it fully charged all year. It works just on battery alone on a full charge for 2-3 months depending on its activity.

Does it need homebase to work ? I do not have homebase as I don't have other Eufy products.

No it does not need homebase. This camera works on its own; hence the model name "Solo". There's still some bugs with the motion sensor but overall it's a great camera!

I bought one of these when they did the preorder that came the the indoor cam as well. Really do like them, picture quality even at night is very good, the flood light and audio are good as well.

Can this be added to a homebase?

I also see there's a new wifi doorbell with dial cameras. Is the same just on this cam?

No, internal storage only.

I suppose the downside of not using the homebase is that if the camera gets stolen (and it's relatively easy to do because it's installed outside and in plain sight) the card and all videos are lost with it? With the homebase you can hide it somewhere that's not easy to find. If they take the camera you still have the videos.

Another downside without homebase is, you can't combine homebase cameras with solo camera for Automation.

Right now I'm setting the automation that if one camera detects something, all others start recording as well.

But I have 4 homebase cameras and 2 solo ones, they are 2 separated groups and can't be used together in Automation.

No monthly fee but internal storage defeats the purpose of having it be no monthly fee.

The concept of this camera doesn't make sense… what's the point of having it solar powered if you have to get the camera to review the footage?
Wouldn't this work like the floodlights, where you view footage via the app? They're the only eufy cam I own.
