I'll add my 2 cents here since this information helped me on another thread. This device is more powerful than your regular Fire TV stick and Chromecast w/GTV. It may or may not be noticeable in everyday tasks but where I feel that it really shines is in streaming games from my PC to my TV. I get smooth 1080P streaming with no artifacts and no noticeable lag. I've tested multiple other devices and none of them was as good.

Can you wirelessly stream audio from a fire tv stick to your echos? I have a "home theater" setup with fire tv cube and 2 echos and echo sub all synced and playing together wirelessly from whatever I'm watching from my fire tv cube. It's so convenient in fact that I'm getting rid of my klipsch 2.1 setup in my bedroom

You can. It's not very stable though - the sound may just stop and come back after the restart. I had a last year 1080p stick and the new 4K max (with 1080P TV) and both of them had this problem. At least with 1080P it was good to go right after the restart, with 4K one it is sitting silent for 3-5 minutes with a message that it's optimizing speakers.

I can confirm that the 25% cashback when using Amazon visa card is still active. Here is what i'm seeing during the checkout.

1st gen fire tv is super slow now
ok correction*** i looked mine up, i have the 2nd gen fire tv (has micro sd on the back). so is it worth the upgrade to a cube? the only thing i use it for is running kodi. i mostly only use 1080p links but if this new cube can pull the 4k links without buffering, that could be a plus. I also use a the microsd card slot to load cartoon series' for the kids. dont have anything fancy like expensive speakers or anything/ or need to control other devices.

edit, looks like my 1st gen fire stick qualifies for this 20%off +$3 off.
doing some googling it looks like this new cube gets slowed down by amazon bloat stuff??? again I use my current 2nd gen fire tv for about 80% kodi related streaming. maybe once in awhile watch security cameras through tinycam+ and i use the microsd for kids cartoons that ive downloaded.

Is there a way to get an instant 20% off for trade in?
And, how long this deal will last? Until March end?
Yes. Do what I did. Take the item to a ubreakifix store if one is close by and your account will be instantly credited.

My cube came a couple days ago. Really like the app integration with alexa and the live guides, but that home screen is kind of crazy. I like how easy it is to use voice so it will stay for now. I even switched to youtube tv since it works so well with alexa. The non integrated apps are kind of hidden but I can deal with it. They really should make the app page one of the main shortcuts.

I can confirm this as well. The 5% Back is the normal reward but during check out it states in the "pulldown" that an additional 20% Back on the amount. Strange that Amazon removed the 25% reward being listed on the product page. Either way, buy it with Amazon Prime card and you're good...at least for now. laugh out loud

I don't have the Amazon Visa but I do have the Prime Store card. So I get the 5% back and an additional 20% back. On top of that I have a 4 year old firestick that I traded in for another 20% off. If I am calculating correctly my cost for this should be about $40.

Did you end up buying this? I also have FTV 2 working ok but I am afraid Amazon may pull support since its 2014-16 year model. I do have 2 Fire sticks so this was backup.

Are they coming out with a new one soon? Is that why this is going on sale?

Yeah, I've been down this road before and came to the conclusion that the nvidia shield is the only one that checks all the boxes for media playback. And it upscales crap old content very well (have a lot of old DVD rips in my collection). Only shortcoming for media files it has is the lack of Dolby Vision for Sony TVs (it triggers DV but doesn't implement it properly) - this may have been fixed but don't think so.
Vizio as well? Or just Sony?

Seems likely since only the 4K Max supports AV1 and 802.11/ax. It will be interesting if Amazon keeps the current Cube TV at a lower price point and releases a new Cube TV (Max?) at the older higher price.

The cube arrived and I hooked it up yesterday.

Works great.

Truthfully, I'm a Firestick/Echo guy, so everything was pretty seamless. It automatically installed most of my apps, and walked me through the soundbar and TV connection

My Recast kept all of it's content and scheduled recordings intact.

Instead of trading anything in, I opted to keep one of the older Firesticks to be used for travel. We go to lots of Air B&B's and rather than use my passwords on foreign equipment, I just plug in my own Firestick and hook up to the WiFi.

For less than $60, I think this is a great deal.

If we're being honest, the only real perk for a normal user is this basically combines the echo and the fire TV stick - still, very tempting to grab another
Except is has a bigger storage, and better performance than a fire stick, for a much better experience.
