Just an FYI if you're just getting this for the "free" tablet. The tablet is a Galaxy A7 lite which only costs $200 ($129 on Amazon)

They will still lock you to a 2 year EIP even if it's free (They'll make a monthly credit to cover the tablet EIP)

Meaning you'd end up paying $10 for 2 years ($240) for a $129 tablet.

So if you're only doing it for the tablet then it's not worth it

Not on the "free" tablet, lol. In all seriousness, don't choose the plan with TE in the title as that one is tax exclusive (you have 2 choices)

soc code ZB10HSTI is the one you want.

Can you just put the tablet sim in the 5g gateway and it works for unlimited internet? Or is there a hack you have to apply?
either some sort of hack needs to be done, or it will not work

read the fine print: Gateway cannot be unlocked for use on other networks.

if there is really a lock (unlock after 6M?), IMO $ 50 saving is not worth the hassle

As promised I am back laugh out loud

I just went ahead and change to eth0, and enable extend and spoof TTL value. Everything else stayed the same. And now Fast.com runs to 6mb. So, am I good to go? PeaceApplause

Below should be the corrected one for my Asus Router AX86U and Nokia 5G21

PeacePeaceThis works perfectly for me on both windows and Mac wirelessly. The only thing wired connected is Asus AX86U to Nokia Gateway 5G21(which I bought brand new on eBay for $100 +tax shipped) .

1. install merlin 388.1 (for my Asus router)
a. download from the websites
b. extract it
c. go to your router.asus.com page (I have 192.168.50.1)
d. administration->firmware upgrade, upload your file and flash. reboot router

2. login asus router. Up top, there will display Merline, then you can continue to do the rest. If not, re-flash it.

3. in WAN, enable extend the ttl value and spoof lan ttl value

4. Go to administration ->system-> JFFS2 , click "yes" on both "JFFS format and JFFS custom scripts and configs"

5. Enable SSH -> "lan only" from the drop-down menu. Change your SSH port # and fill authenticate key

6. Click apply

7. Reboot asus router. After reboot your JFFS format will go back to NO. Leave it alone now

8. Download PUTTY (websites) and install

9. connect your putty to router by keying asus router ip address and port # (it is SSH port # you changed above)

10. In putty, your login with pw

11. type code: chdir /jffs/scripts/

12. navigate to jffs/scripts, If there is no file/directory.

13. then type: nano firewall-start

14. Press enter

15. edit the script to be or create one by type:
#!/bin/sh
iptables -t mangle -A POSTROUTING -o eth0 -j TTL --ttl-set 65 (I set mine to 68 in case)
chmod a+rx /jffs/scripts/*

16. ctrl+x and click Y to save it

17. Manually reboot the router (that was I did)

Now, Go back and open the putty again to make sure modified scripts are still there. If not, redo those above steps til it is there (sometimes you may forget to save it).

Also, to save existing nano file after modified, press control and O to save, then Control and X to exit Applause

Could I have some love for this post? ApplausePeace
Thanks, repped. One question though: 6mb isn't enough for home streaming need, is it? So it's impractical to use it to replace home internet or am I missing something?

To me, 6 Mbps is just too slow to stream. Can't reliably watch full HD content (and impossible 4K). Many services block use of VPN to bypass that limit.

This was a deal breaker to use it as home internet.

No hack to 5G gateway is needed

Yes, those are good. No hack to 5G gateway is needed.

And with TMHI at $25 per month, not worth effort to save $15.

Really? Can you give examples? I've only had buffering issues with Fubo, aside from that everything streams perfectly fine, some content even in 4K (I assume those services weren't part of BingeOn when it came out).

Yes but I think the deal is over, and also that requires a postpaid TMO voice line which is expensive compared to alternatives if not in a family plan

Maybe it works for you but the word here is "reliably"

Pop question in google and you get 50Mbps required for 4k, not saying that you cant get away with less , but 50Mbps and 6 Mbps is a big difference

In this thread, they are talking about free ipad. What is that about?
I think this is a case of a person calling any tablet an iPad.

When I put this sim inside Arcadyan KVD21, it was counting as hotspot.

Oh boy…

This is not a subjective statement. I actually looked at the WAN speeds while going thru all the streaming services and some of them are not throttled and have true 4K streaming up to 75 Mbps. Likely those that emerged after BingeOn.

If I were to use it , it would be primarily for Youtube TV which only gives 1080 andyway because I dont pay extra for 4k but Netflix, Paramount+ etc... I use occassionally

I currently have 75Mbps Comcast and I sometimes get buffering but I am not sure if that is the fault of YTV , my CCwGTV device or my internet connection

Are you using Merlin on Asus with Nokia 5g21?

Merlin RTAC68U and Sagemcom. Netflix streams at HD rates but subjectively looks better than HD. Paramount is 4K and so are HBO Max and Discovery Plus

We have 3 iPhones run YouTube (Korean movies LOL) and iPad, no issues. I don't do streaming movies or softwares stuffs that often, therefore it is good enough for us. I can bring it along with me when in long haul vacation
I also signed up for $25 Home internet promotion, so I am good in case needed LOL
