We got this before Christmas for my oldest son (and well, we all use it!) It's very nice and easy.

Don't whisk your mixture at high speeds (we used our KitchenAid mixer once on high to see) and make it frothy, the contents will separate while it freezes and it doesn't turn out the greatest. It struggled a bit to get through that as the hardest part was at the bottom.

Adding on: This is a sale, but it isn't the best sale price for it. It was on sale at Walmart in December for $124.00 (that's when I purchased!) and at one point even cheaper at Kohl's I think from a deal posted in SD Nov/Dec(?) (I didn't get to it in time!)

If you're not in a rush, your wait will eventually be rewarded; as with a lot of things I suppose. Smilie Still, Thumbs up! Thanks!

Editing: Apparently the one I got at Walmart for $124 is a less-feature one where this one has more! I do still have to say, this version DID still sell for less last year ($113 and $118 BOTH at Kohl's)!

Seems expensive considering it doesn't have a compressor to freeze the mixture as its churning (you need to refrigerate for 24 hours in advance). Might as well get something like this for $85 less https://www.amazon.com/Frigidaire...B08JGPPMCX

Nothing on Slickdeals will ever save you money. It's a bunch of gateway drugs of things you don't need but suddenly REALLY need. And like, it's on sale.

In all seriousness, making ice cream is negligible savings unless you're eating ice cream every day and then it'll take awhile. Heavy cream is expensive, as is quality fresh fruit, eggs or cream cheese (depending on recipe) etc. You get larger amounts than the pint you'd buy but it's not going to be a net gain.

If you want to try making ice cream tho, stop by goodwill a few times until a Cuisinart shows up that's in good condition. The Jeni's ice cream recipe is a great, easy one to start with.

Nothing negative about this one, but if looking around, also consider the Cuisinart ICE-30 or ICE-70 and machines like that. Those also require the tub to be frozen over night.
At the next level, adding the freezer in the machine (40 minutes to ice cream from chilled mix), consider the Cuisinart® Ice Cream and Gelato Maker [bedbathandbeyond.com]. I use this one (looks the same, possibly an earlier model). Its a little heavy, a little big, and ideally never gets moved. Otherwise one of the best at this price point.

How does the texture of the ice cream make with this maker comparing to the one making with a blender (freeze the mixture after blending)?

This maker seems great but don't want to buy another appliance to take up spaces.

We have had this 6 months or so and never use it. The only time we do, which has been maybe 5 times, is when we want to add a mix to our store bought ice cream.

I guess if you are one that currently makes their own smoothies and stuff like that, this is for you. Just hasn't clicked with us yet.
You're missing out not using it. I love ice cream but also want to avoid sugary store bought versions and save money on buying specialty ice creams like rebel, halo top, carb smart, etc. I can eat a pint of protein ice cream even for breakfast for a couple hundred calories and not feel guilty compared to a 1,000 calorie Ben& Jerry's pint. Only issue is experimenting with various recipes and keep certain ingredients in stock and buying every several weeks. I have 7 ninja creami pint containers and at least a couple ready to go in freezer

This is awesome. Not as cheap as $120 from back in Dec as others have purported, but being that summer is around the corner, I can see this being a cool appliance to have.

Got mine at Costco in store for $149.99 and it comes with 4 pint containers. Best warranty / return policy around too.

Curious. What advantage does this have over a Vitamix / Blendtec? I've been freezing coconut milk / cream, fruit & other ingredients in ice-cube trays to blend. What part of the process does this make easier?

It seems to me that it saves a step that you need to put the ice cubes back into blender vs. you just blender directly from the cup container. Then scoping the ice cream out from the blender is harder than just scope it out from the cup container at the end. It's because ninja has the blade in the top while the blade in the blender is at the bottom.

I'm researching as well. I found this video helpful

How's the texture of the ice cream with the blender? Is it thick and creamy?

I think the most compelling reason to get something like this is to be able to make a healthier alternative to store bought ice cream.

So, for your specific situation, I would say:

1. Convenience w/ the container: You pour your mix into a pint container, freeze it there, blend it there, store it there. Since it lives in the same thing continually, you sort of always have a space for it in your freezer throughout the whole process.

2. Settings: Truth be told, I don't experiment with the settings much. But there's one for ice cream, one for gelato, one for smoothies, etc. So you press a button, go away, come back two minutes later and the process is done.

3. Cleanup: Maybe it's because I'm messy, but I feel like there's always crap in my sink. When you're done making ice cream (and you put the container back in the freezer), there's only two parts that you have to clean - the lid and the blade.

On the other hand, you already have appliances that get you 90% of the functionality that this thing does. I would argue that you probably wouldn't get as much use out of it since you already have a process in place that works for you.

As another poster said, this won't save you money. But if you're wanting to make your own flavors (Girl Scout Thin Mints + Mint Ice Cream is a popular hit), then it might be worth considering.

That being said, this is a very specific device that's pretty good at only doing one-ish thing (yes, it has 7 modes, but...it's still a blade spinning through something frozen). Unless you're super into ice cream or making something specific for dietary restrictions you can't find at the store (maybe you want something that's mostly vegan, but also includes egg yolks for consistency), I'm not sure this is worth the immense amount of storage space it takes.

The item you linked has to have the bucket frozen ahead of time.

Look I've had both and the creami is pretty game changing. I was really shocked at how it turned something like frozen pineapples to have the consistency of gelato.
