Amex sometimes does have specific upgrade offers- typically those appear in your account when logged in, or sometimes are direct mailings.

BE VERY CAREFUL DOWNGRADING

I had my other card downgraded as I didn't need both and I didn't want to cancel in case of a credit score hit but id only had it 10mths instead of 12 and they clawed back bonus points I got when opening it.

My guess is amex cannot claw back in that scenario, but you will end up in their bad books which I will personally avoid amex being the big player in the credit cards market

Used a google link on a different site as someone mentioned above. That one also provides 10x points on restaurant for 6 months in addition to 150K.

Just searched Amex Platinum in incognito and got the 150K offer on first go! My wife already has the same card but decided to get another because of the good bonus offer. I have a major expense coming up soon and helps meeting the spend limit as well.

Yep, finally got the 150k link from googled. Since I didn't see the bonus got listed on the approval email, a quick chat with service rep confirmed the bonus is there. I got this same card few years back and still qualified. They didn't seem to pull any credit check.
