Did you apply thermal paste.?
Some coolers may have it pre-applied.
When mounting cooler, thermal paste needs to be evenly distributed
using proper quantities to provide a thermoconductive seal.

I'm thinking perhaps I received a defective CPU.
1 and maybe 2 generation doesn't really increase the life that much. I'd say 4-6 years like AMD does it, is the way to go.
Intel had yield issues with their process so they had to backport Rocket Lake to their older process, which resulted in a very messy cobbled together solution. 12th gen is significantly better.

I truly, truly doubt you know more than Dr. Ian Cuttress.
Additionally 12th gen added way more PCIe lanes to both the CPU and the chipset.
