Man Dyson makes too many models. Do they make a model and then when a new version comes out they just make the new one more expensive and keep the old one around? I can't tell if should step up to the V10 or not.
Agreed. I used to recommend Dyson to everyone, but now I can't do that because I don't know the difference among all the models.
It's the soft roller that really makes the difference for hard surfaces…it's really the main key piece. I did extensive research in the past up until they released the V10.

The V8 battery life is significantly less then the V10 along with the price tag. Otherwise their are small nuanced differences. The absolute versions include both the brush roller head and soft roller. The attachments in these higher tier versions (absolute vs their basic) are really overkill.

For battery life think about how long your actually vaccum on time will be….it ends up not being a lot. Ex I bought 2 dyson refurbished (eBay) v6 absolutes for $280 + tax 4 years ago. I have 2200sqft with 50/50 carpet/hard wood… between the both of them it's enough to do the whole place. One is dying very soon.

If I recall correctly, after the V6 most of the next versions had The major issues worked out (easier to empty bin, HEPA filter etc).

i got the v7 Animal version Christmas of 2018. The battery is just now seeming to crap out on me. So 3.5 years of LIGHT use on the battery life. Read an article on wirecutter that those generic batteries on amazon are crap and to get legit dyson batteries. If you chat with customer service rep they will give you 20% off battery mine for my v7 was priced at about $100 including tax.
the purchase price was like $270 add $100 for the battery and divide by 6 years of good battery life= you are paying about $60 a year to have the basic model. thats assuming nothing else fails on it. they only have 2 year warranty on this v7.

you could just get crap walmart vacuum and throw it away get a new one every year. bad for the earth obviously. Walmart has basic compact vacuums for about $60 right now. I've had them before you get about a year out of them. I love this v7 but when you see on slickdeal front page some shark corded vac for $100 vs dumping $100 into a battery for a 3.5 year old dyson machine its a toss up. If i even saw a v6 or v7 like $200 I would just get a new one before i would dump $100 into just a battery.

For $300, you might as well go for a used v10 for around $400.

My original V6 I encountered the same issue with a weak battery. However, I did replace the battery for about 30-50 via amazon and the new battery was pretty awesome. It was much stronger and lasted a lot longer. Then I dropped and broke my V6. Bought a V10. I don't like the style of v6-v8 the V10 + have the inline containers + are 50% more powerful.

I bought a v10 absolute for $400 with an included free Dok (which IMO is a must have if you get a V10) on April 2020.

paid $128 last August for a V7 (115 AWG vs 100, 40 min run time vs 30) came with a motor head and 2 tools and it was refurbished....I think this is a good deal if you have hard floors.

Similar story here. Why can't an expensive vacuum stand up on its own and why does it break when it falls? Answer: it's poorly designed. Why then go out and buy another Dyson? It's the definition of insanity.

I also find that the fluffy head is prone to cracking in various places and takes a lot of maintenance to keep it working. James Dyson will not get any more of my money.

Is the v8 absolute with all the accessories on dysons site for $400 a better deal? Had a shark but it's starting to give us trouble every other week

I bought the Dyson V8 Animal from Sam's club a li'l over a month ago for $329. So far it's been solid. I've never needed more than a single charge in my 3000sq ft home. I love how it doubles as a handheld and has a max suction mode. No regerts.
