i have verizon post paid for my main phone but been using $10 every 90 days through pageplus for a home phone, and $24.xx/mo for an iPhone XS through Total Wireless as a backup/mobile phone.
Is 2g fast enough for pandora or sirius streaming?
I got this deal June last year $78 for the year. We actually had good service. No drop xalls and got all texts. Data is good since we're within city limits. I wanted to use the same number.
Has anyone tried porting out to Google voice then port back in to Tello? How long do you have to stay port out? I don't want to change number again.

Tello provides free direct calling to India. Moved Verizon line to eSim and use Tello in regular sim line. Changed all India contacts to use secondary line so it is a direct calling. Very handy and better than using Vonage app

You can port back in immediately - there's no time requirement.
Also got this plan for my wife last June 29th for $67. Google Voice forwards to the Tello number, making it easy to switch to the best plan available when time to renew. Looks like I have 10 Tello Dollars that I forgot about.
Does this deal expire tonight (April 27 midnight)? Ther eis a countdown clock saying it expires at that time. Or does it say that each day and then resets itself thenext day? Trying to decide if I should go for this or if there is another prepaid plan for light users that is better or cheaper.

I'm with Mint now which provides more data (4 gb) which I don't really need and costs more. I have been having a few problems with getting any signal with my 5G phone. I'm wondering how Tello stacks up against Mint as far as reception goes - I guess it depends on your location.
tello uses T-mobile like Mint so should be the same. 5G coverage not as wide as 4G
Anyone has experience using it in other country as WIFI Calling to receive text messages and calls. I am planning to use it in India to receive text messages mainly, also want to check if I can receive calls.
I have had this plan activated since August 2021 and I regret getting it. The first time I ran out of data I tried to purchase an extra 1 GB which worked; HOWEVER, this resulted in changing my renewal date to 1 month from the addition of the data AND it cancelled my annual plan! I spent too much time on the phone with them trying to get my annual plan re-instated. It is ridiculous that you can't add data without messing everything up.
And that unlimited 2G data... Its barely functional for me. Randomly I have seen emails or DMs get through, but it is such a small bandwidth that seems to only be usable in very populated areas. So many web pages wouldn't work at all on the 2G.
In short, I do not recommend this plan. I would much rather have a Red Pocket 1 GB plan.

Yes, but the 2G is so spotty and low bandwidth that you might need to shut-off data for every other app in order to use Google Voice with any reliability. In my experience the 2G is a pretty poor backup plan for data. I would not count on it working well.

I have been using Tello for almost a year. Generally very happy with price/quality ratio. I live in northwest suburbs of Chicago and signal is solid.
2 things that i think would be a welcomed improvement:
2g (after high speed data allotment is done) is awful. I can't even confirm my location on Target app or place an order on McDonald's app. it's 64kbs. I didn't have these issues with Mint so maybe they use 128kbs or even 256kba for their 2g.
International calling works but it's spotty. I call Poland very often and calls are routed via Hungary or Romania and random # show up on my friends' phone so they don't even know who is calling. Quality is very spotty too.

thanks.
do you know if this plan can be used as Mobile Hotspot and USB tethering? the description states "free hotspot" but I am not sure what that includes (a dedicated device?), and if the 2G unlimited is available for the hotspot too?

unless you need to add data, RedPocket 1GB ($99) is going to cost a bit more

Yeah, I was able to use the hotspot on my iPhone without any issue or call-in to setup. I don't know if the 2G would be usable, but I am pretty sure it would allow you to use it.
