Board is 170 on Amazon and cpu you can find around 200.
Mobo not having support out of the box for 5600x or other 5000 series it needs bios update.
Problem is it doesn't have bios flashback and no easy way to do it.

B550 is fine for a 5600x or any in the 5000 series ryzen. The bios was intended for these series and you would likely need the usual updates once you are set.

I don't think this is a great deal, especially with all the sales on the 5600X that we've seen. I know not everyone has a Microcenter near them, but you can get a combo with an X570 board for less than this.

I'm running my 5600x on a B450. So the B550 will work fine.

So there is no point to get a 5800X which is about $120 more expensive than the 5600X, and there is no point to get a X570 for the 5X00X because of little room to over clock? Thanks

B550 supports ryzen 5000 series out of the box. B450 however would need a bios update before hand.

I got a B450 Tomahawk with bios flashback (small button on back panel) to update bios.
Only B550 and up had was the Pcie 4.0 upgrade and it had really no advantages in gaming.
And you need storage that makes use of pci4 to take advantage of it.

Good B450 boards are 100 bucks. Premium boards like what I got. B550 and up go for 135 and up. And I think AMD is going to close out the AM4 line soon.

It's not a guarantee though. Unless the B550 board has a sticker that says 'Ryzen 5000 ready'
most likely it will need up update.
Amazon review says it needed to update bios to make it work. If you're set on this board try calling before ordering to confirm Bios version and check.

Correct. This is what looks like a mainstream gaming setup, that would pair well with a med end gaming gpu. If you were to jump to a 5800x, I rather suggest putting even a little more money toward the latest 5800x3d for gaming purpose. Otherwise, this combo is sufficient for the majority of games, cpu wise. Asrock boards are fine, as long as they aren't the cheapest, which are easy to tell because they are lacking heatsinks in their designs. On overclocking a 5600x or 5800x, it easier to let it handles itself by enabling PBO. For instance, on my 5800x setup, even with a high end board, it would not be stable sustained over 4.9GHz. PBO enabled will hit near that clock briefly. I dont see ocing worth the time, imo there are too many thing to tweak w these cpu. I rather suggest save the money, if the 5600x is fine for you, and get high bandwidth and fast ram with this setup.

I've been looking at a build with a R7 5700g + X570 board and it only ends up being $30 more than this. Any reason I shouldn't go with that combo over this one? My reasoning for the 5700g would be it's newer and i'm currently running a 1080ti that i'd be willing to sell and upgrade if something comes and would like a APU so I can continue to use my PC until I get a new card.
