Increased in-store trade-in value for smart phones and reduced price of S22 phones

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/clp-...1537879921

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/sams...Id=6494440

I have an older Galaxy Note 10, BestBuy is offering $450 for in-store trade-in. Unlocked 256 gb S22 is has reduced -100 price at $750

$750 + $50 tax - $450 (trade-in) = $350

Samsung has an elevated trade-in currently as well, but they are only offering $375 on my Note 10.

Please read https://slickdeals.net/f/15754645-bestbuy-in-store-trade-increase-galaxy-s22-256gb-unlocked-750-before-trade-in-350?p=154876258#post154876258
for details of what to ask for from the reps at bestbuy to get the deal to work.

Seems like at some bestbuys, you can trade in multiple phones YMMV

Waiting for an equal trade in pixel 6 to s22
Genuinely curious, the S22 is an upgrade from the Pixel 6?

TBH I just prefer a smaller form factor. It does have faster processor and maybe a more premium build?

I have heard that Galaxy S22 has poor battery life, can you comment on that? , also does the phone come fully unlocked?
The S22 has a horrible battery life and has this minor lag to the UI. My S22+ is a better option or if you can find a cheap S21 I would stick to that since it was a better product. I only upgraded because it was free after credits but wouldn't have if I had to fork over money.

FYI If you're on Tmobile and don't mind the 24 month credits their trade in value is better right now if you have Magenta MAX. No new line required for Samsung upgrades.

That deal is incredible with no trade, on point
I don't see where they list the model number on the google fi site. I'd like to do this and then after 4 months, take the phone over to cricket, but cricket only takes certain model numbers.

I like the Google Fi deal better anytime. It gave 500 straight discount and reasonable value for old phone
Total cost of s22 256gb= $370 (including taxes)
Tradein value s20, $275.
Effective price= $95.

Have to use Fi network for 4 months.

The official cricket list has specific model numbers. The factory unlocked S22 on Best Buy's site has a different model number than the one on the cricket BYOD list.
BB model number is l:SM-S901UZWAXAA for the white S22 and cricket lists these models as compatible.
Galaxy S22 Rainbow (SM-S901U1) 8
Galaxy S22 Rainbow (SM-S906U1) 8
Galaxy S22 Rainbow (SM-S908U1) 8

Very confusing. The offer does say "Save up to $800 on select unlocked Samsung Galaxy phones," but the term excludes unlocked phones. Does it even require a wireless plan?
would like to know the same as I would like to buy the phone outright with the trade in for my old pixel 3 xl

It's not the "big tech corporations" or collusion with carriers etc. It's that the 3 phone models you named (high end Samsung Galaxy, iPhone and Google Pixel) are the only phones that maintain a high enough resell value to justify trade in prices like this. And the reason resale prices are high, in large part, are because they are phones that are well supported for long periods of time.

If one plus wants to join the party, they need to build a track record of long term reliability and software support for their products. Unfortunately, they (and many other companies) have done the math and figured out that iy isn't in their favor to provide expensive long term support. Apple does it because they get a lot of lifetime revenue from app store sales and services. Google does it for similar reasons, and Samsung basically has to keep up with the other two while also encouraging further investment in their own smaller ecosystem of products and services, something most other phone makers don't benefit from at all.

Second hand and long lived phones HURT hardware profits, but benefit the ecosystems that those products rely on, so only ecosystem-affiliated companies are going to support this kind of robust resale model. If you were buying all your apps on the oneplus app store and streaming from oneplus radio while seeing ads from the oneplus ad network etc, then things would be different.
Nah, I know what I'm talking about. What is long term support? Theyre not gonna repair your phone (or it cost a mint) so thats out. Do you mean software updates? Who cares. Only slickdeals. Software updates dont change anything, I dont even notice when I change major android revisions let alone anything else. Where is your proof those companies offer more updates than One Plus? Very few are going to keep there phone past 1-2 years anyway. The battery will start having problems and lose longevity as you get past 2 yrs anyway. The phone manufacturer standard is 2yrs for the battery to maintain 80%. That's it, they make no guarantee past 2 yrs (and it's already acceptable to lose 20% battery capacity)

It's not just resale value, it's everything. Such as ATT artificially limiting 5G support to a few Pixel, Samsung Galaxy, and iPhone models (that ATT happens to sell as well). In the USA, it's well know that the big carriers are a cartel and they are king and control our phone market. It is not this way overseas. Overseas you can get amazing, powerful, unlocked, OLED phones for $200-300 by Xiaomi, Oppo, Poco, even Motorola or Samsung (only because they have to actually COMPETE overseas, any Moto phone with good value will not come to the United States), etc. All those great value phones dont even come to the USA, they are sold in Europe, Asia, India etc. Our only inexpensive option is typically horrible, underpowered, Motorola CRAP. As a phone and gadget nerd it sucks.

Love my One Plus phones but I am made to feel like a second class citizen. ATT and all ATT MVNOS do not support 5G on One Plus for NO. REASON, they are using the same 5g supporting high end QUALCOMM snapdragon chips as everybody else. Only T-Mobile supports 5G on One Plus GSM typically because they are the CARRIER with a One Plus affiliation. It is very difficult to get a foothold in USA phone market because the big USA carriers collude to exclude to line their own pockets. They want to control everything, they want you to only buy overpiced phone from them. Then they want to lock it so you cant go anywhere else.

ok, so the google fi deal has 4 months of service, i thought you had to pay for which usually locks the phone to a carrier for a period of time. If you're saying they are unlocked and stay unlocked, even better.
