I have an older Galaxy Note 10, BestBuy is offering $450 for in-store trade-in. Unlocked 256 gb S22 is has reduced -100 price at $750
$750 + $50 tax - $450 (trade-in) = $350
Samsung has an elevated trade-in currently as well, but they are only offering $375 on my Note 10.

for details of what to ask for from the reps at bestbuy to get the deal to work.
Seems like at some bestbuys, you can trade in multiple phones YMMV

If one plus wants to join the party, they need to build a track record of long term reliability and software support for their products. Unfortunately, they (and many other companies) have done the math and figured out that iy isn't in their favor to provide expensive long term support. Apple does it because they get a lot of lifetime revenue from app store sales and services. Google does it for similar reasons, and Samsung basically has to keep up with the other two while also encouraging further investment in their own smaller ecosystem of products and services, something most other phone makers don't benefit from at all.
Second hand and long lived phones HURT hardware profits, but benefit the ecosystems that those products rely on, so only ecosystem-affiliated companies are going to support this kind of robust resale model. If you were buying all your apps on the oneplus app store and streaming from oneplus radio while seeing ads from the oneplus ad network etc, then things would be different.
It's not just resale value, it's everything. Such as ATT artificially limiting 5G support to a few Pixel, Samsung Galaxy, and iPhone models (that ATT happens to sell as well). In the USA, it's well know that the big carriers are a cartel and they are king and control our phone market. It is not this way overseas. Overseas you can get amazing, powerful, unlocked, OLED phones for $200-300 by Xiaomi, Oppo, Poco, even Motorola or Samsung (only because they have to actually COMPETE overseas, any Moto phone with good value will not come to the United States), etc. All those great value phones dont even come to the USA, they are sold in Europe, Asia, India etc. Our only inexpensive option is typically horrible, underpowered, Motorola CRAP. As a phone and gadget nerd it sucks.
Love my One Plus phones but I am made to feel like a second class citizen. ATT and all ATT MVNOS do not support 5G on One Plus for NO. REASON, they are using the same 5g supporting high end QUALCOMM snapdragon chips as everybody else. Only T-Mobile supports 5G on One Plus GSM typically because they are the CARRIER with a One Plus affiliation. It is very difficult to get a foothold in USA phone market because the big USA carriers collude to exclude to line their own pockets. They want to control everything, they want you to only buy overpiced phone from them. Then they want to lock it so you cant go anywhere else.
