Step 1) Buy LG V30 on eBay for $50 in flawless condition

Step 2) Root it and install Android 11 on it

Step 3) Enjoy all the features it has that are better than the Nord N200

Step 4) Instead of buying a yearly plan for ~$15/month through an MVNO, pay T-Mobile ludicrous amounts for their garbage plans so you can get a statement credit and a new Oneplus Nord N200.

Hard pass.

You'll still have to pay shipping and tax on the new phone. Comes out to $20-$30 depending on your sales tax. Just FYI

I can't stress strongly enough if you have a trade in do it at the store. I have had several of these messed up at their return center I realize they contract with another company, but it doesn't matter that you have a tracking number and show they have received it, they can monitor it as well but they can and do lose phones and will remove your discounts and it takes long multiple phone calls to get an account corrected.

Do you really want to compare the specific benefits of the One Plus? It's called security updates. The V30 doesn't get them anymore. Which makes you more susceptible to phishing scams and viruses. I just mentioned a basic difference. You aren't proposing a better or equal tradeoff. It's not close.
LMAO this guy believes his security updates make his phone secure. I bet McAffee security is helping you avoid clicking those phishing links too, huh?

Edit: Not to mention, on a rooted phone I get those security updates long before you do. Lineage updates with security updates constantly. You have to wait until they're finally pushed to your phone from your carrier.

Lol funny I was gonna say step 6: throw own body off bridge into river and you and wack phone float away quietly.
Oh man, you got me here! Enjoy your outdated POS phone for a 24 month contract and far more than I pay for a phone plan. I pay $15 a month and get 5gb a month. You probably pay my yearly rate in a few months.

Is T-mobile paying you a bonus if you can sell more garbage phone plans?

Cope and seethe.

Calm down brother. It's just a phone deal. It is a lukewarm deal for some here, like established customers who have grandfathered plans. It is definitely not a good deal for others like yourself. So why not just move on to another deal before you stroke out about this one, or before the mods give you a time out via a temporary ban.

You're taking this deal way too seriously. People can make their own choices with their own money. No need to chime in or debate it. Just rate it thumbs down if you don't like it and move on with your life.

I rooted phones back to the OG Droid. You aren't talking to a chump. But what some folks think is a "value" is really some weak and outdated trash that can't keep up or run secure apps when you root. Lineage is not perfect or stable for every phone. *Most* people that don't know phones to that level or more importantly NEED to know, prefer the One Plus route. It's a good midrange phone. And it you have TMobile already, it's a no brainer.

This is a financed phone at $9/mo over two years with a corresponding promotional credit of $9/mo. This means you'll need a postpaid account along with requisite credit check, etc., to qualify and take advantage of this offer.

The Nord N20 just came out. It seems like a better phone than the N200. If people are willing to wait a few months T-Mobile might offer a similar deal to the N20 deal. Right now they offering it free through bill credits but only if you open up a new line.

Why not just get the N200 for free now and if the N20 is ever offered for free in the future for existing customers, take advantage of that offer at that time? It's not an either-or proposition.

I suppose that would make sense for a lot of people. The n200 would make a good first phone for a child. Maybe you could also sell it unopened for a couple of hundred dollars. For me I would use the N20 but the n200 would probably just sit in a drawer.

Since they just took down 3G, I think that's going to be a while.

You have to be on a T-Mobile plan to take advantage of this "free" phone (that requires you to trade in a phone first). T-mobile has garbage coverage outside of cities. Also, from T-Mobile's own website, MM costs between 47-57$ per line per month.
I frequently travel 60+ miles away from the nearest city (Spokane) and get coverage everywhere, including mountainous wooded areas. Sounds like bs.

Agreed. That's what I did because I had an old Moto X Pure lying around that couldn't stay on for more than 15 mins. I was afraid by the time it got to inspection via mail the battery would be dead and they'd reject the trade-in. So went instore, and battery lasted just long enough so they could pull the old IMEI number off it and get me on the EIP for the N200. Good timing too because I have an OP6 with a fading battery and was starting to get super laggy. N200 isn't flagship, but it's comparable enough to an old OP6 that I don't notice a difference.

I want to trade in four old phones. Does anyone know if they charge $30 assistance fee instore for each phone? or will I just pay $30 for all 4?

Thanks

It's charged per phone since each trade-in requires a separate transaction. Just do it online and drop off the trade-in instore.
