If you're doing reenactment why wouldn't you want to use the materials of the age? What do YOU think it should be made of?

If you're doing reenactment why wouldn't you want to use the materials of the age? What do YOU think it should be made of?
In a real combat situation, you can use these to block and attack against anything from a knife to a baseball bat, in which case you can block your opponent upward and strike low. Much harder to do that without a shield.

They're not necessarily used for reenactment. They can be used defensively in real life situations. If it gets scratch and scuffed, no prob. You just heat the surface and blend that part back in with the rest.
In a real combat situation, you can use these to block and attack against anything from a knife to a baseball bat, in which case you can block your opponent upward and strike low. Much harder to do that without a shield.
A shield used improperly can be used against you by someone using a shield correctly. Go out and get some training, then come back and talk to me. It might mean putting down your Thundercats action figures so you can become a man, but I'm sure you can figure it out with some help. Good luck.
