Unless your workload really benefits from having 14 cores I don't see any reason to get the 2022 model. The new 3070ti will perform slightly worse and the 3080ti will barely be better than the 3080. With intel you'll get way worse battery life despite having a large battery with the new system. Now with the 2022 you can't have the combination of amd processor with nvidia gpu. Although the 6800m is still great it sits between a 3070 and 3080 in terms of performance leaning closer to the 3080.
In terms of gaming you are unlikely to see any worthwhile gains compared to the previous gen. I had the new zephyrus m16 12900h and 3070ti(100 watt even though they claimed 120watts) and the performance was disappointing.
I would rather get the ryzen 5900 hx and 3080 16 gb with full 165 watts over anything available right now and at $1800 it's a great bargain.
This should be hitting front page
What a steal. Walmart return is also painless. Giving this a try to see if the Legion 7 chassis is worth the premium over the 5 Pro.

In just a few months ethereum will no longer be mined, which is most likely why this is so cheap and will continue to be cheap.
You can mine other coins but probably not worth it
In terms of the 2TB SSD, can't help you there. There's 1 extra m.2 SSD slot (for 2 total) but keep in mind they're both PCIe 3.0, which is slower than PCIe 4.0. PCIe 4.0 is backwards compatible but you could save money by purchasing a PCIe 3.0 card.
Debating this one or the Costco one with the 3070. I like the 4 years of warranty from Costco and the 3 year accidental damage available for $99 (it's for my daughter). Any similar accidental damage warranties available for this?
Have you seen any gaming laptops like this with a touchscreen monitor? I haven't. Doesn't have to be a 3080. 3060ti or better would work
Depends on your budget. You can look into Asus, they have their touchscreen line. Ones that come to mind are the Z13 and the incoming X16.
The z13 is kind of like the Microsoft surface; it's a touchscreen tablet and has a keyboard, but is spec'd better. Asus did this thing with external GPU's (which seems proprietary right now), it can be treated as a dock but is pricey in itself. You'll be paying for the base item (The "Laptop") and if you need more juice, you'll be paying for the external GPU.
X16 is the G15 upgraded with a 16" touchscreen and also does the external GPU mentioned above. Not yet released but expect over 2k for the base model.

Walmart's 3-year extended Allstate warranty is $88. Buying with Costco Citicard extends it by two years. The nice thing about Costco is you get 90 days to try it out, only 30 with Walmart.
It does have a 30-day return period. I'm on day 3.
Isn't walmart return policy for laptops 15 days? I also bought the laptop and have had it for 5 days but was under the assumption it was only for that allotted time.

30 days. Start the return online, get a barcode, and drop it off in store with the barcode. Super easy.

Any idea if you can add the warranty after the fact?
Can anyone tell me what kind of temps they're getting while gaming with this laptop? I'm getting temps of about 100c on the cpu and about 86 on the gpu from playing apex legends after only 5-10 mins. Trying to figure out if these temps are normal or if an exchange is necessary.
edit: I also managed to get 12153 for a timespy score after uninstalling icue and AV, turning off g sync, enabling overclock for cpu/you in bios. A cpu score of 9323 and graphics score of 12842. insure if these are low but from what I've seen from others tests at least the cpu score is kind of low?
Was tempted by these and AMD inside, for better battery life vs 12th gen Intel, but i dont need to be unplugged all day and no TB4 port is a deal breaker for me at this price. I would want to be able to use an eGPU to breathe new life into it eventually since the 5900hx shouldnt be the bottleneck for quite some time.
The 3080 in this is good but still only a desktop 3070 equivalent.
Id go with a desktop instead unless you really need the portability.

Do you have to use Costco Citicard to get 2 year extended warranty? I only saw the following but it doesn't say anything about Citicard?
"Through Costco Concierge Services - applicable items are automatically enrolled in an extended warranty up to 2 years from the date of purchase."

I don't know, really. I read someplace Costco Visa, as long as you remain a member, will extend a warranty as if it were bought in-store.

Look at your order on Walmart, and it will explicitly tell you when you can turn in your add-on warranty, and when you can return the laptop. My warranty return deadline is earlier than my laptop return as it was delivered to my inbox quickly.

They're "within normal operation". The limit I recall was "105C". If you want lower temps, look into turning off the "boost" mechanist for the AMD CPU.

For the record, I disabled the boost for Quiet and Auto, but left it on Performance for the rare times I'll need it.
