The weather's starting to get nice again which means going outdoors and getting bitten by mosquitos. Even when I coat myself with Ben's I still get bit and end up with huge itchy welts.

My sister picked up some of this stuff in Japan a few years back at a recommendation from her tour guide and I've been using it ever since. Pretty much immediate relief from the itch and the swelling subsides in a few hours. It works great despite the ridiculous name.

Cheapest price I've seen in the last year (confirmed by CCC).

Well, the ingredients list 5% menthol, so there's your immediate relief. And it's 2% diphenhydramine (so like concentrated topical Benadryl). Also camphor to relieve itching, and glycyrrhetinic acid (licorice extract) for anti-inflammatory and other properties.
If this was Chinese, you might also expect a secret steroidal dose too (like many of the "herbal" remedies).
I had my parents bring some back from Taiwan. It was about 3-4$ usd. This stuff works well for itches.
Any idea how much this would cost in Japan? it

also, can confirm with experience that most bug relief products in Asia are many times superior to anything that can be found in the states.

Might I suggest TriCalm Soothing Steroid-Free Anti-Itch Hydrogel for Bug Bites, Eczema, and More, Contains No Hydrocortisone, 2 Fl Oz
It's $7.29 on Amazon and guaranteed to stop itching or your money back. I love this stuff.

I use "Benadryl Extra Strength Itch Cooling Spray". Has anyone used both? I'm tempted to try it but the Benadryl brand is much less expensive and works pretty well.

been using this for 10 years, its great for insect bites. easy application, your hand doesn't need to touch cream, just roll it on, and dries clear like water. doesn't stain clothes and easier to apply than hydro

Thanks & Repped! OP

I never heard of this before and will give it a try since all the usual stuff doesn't work when a mosquito does get me.
I've bought mopidick from hongkong before, and while it's fine, I like my Thai Green Herbal Balm much better for mosquito bites. That stuff is magic, one application and the bite never itches again. Look for the phoyok brand, they sell it on amazon.

Not $12! I got them when I was in Tokyo before pandemic. I am sure it was under 1000 yen

The one I use, Phoyok [amazon.com], charges a crazy $10 shipping fee on amazon I realized, so that's not the best choice anymore. I got mine when I vacationed in Thailand 4 years ago, still have not finished one jar.

This one looks basically the same, https://smile.amazon.com/Wang-Pro...08WZ99VP1/ , has free prime shipping, and it does mention itch relief in the description: "Relief for insect bites, venomous stings, stings, Itchy and respiratory irritations. "

It's one of those Japanese old brands that were so prevalent among Asians. This is actually the liquefied form of the original Muhi Cream, which I think works slower but keeps the itch away longer. All are available cheaper in Asian supermarkets
