Waiting for the 16Tb WD Golds to go on sale for sub $300. They are $335 now. I think my shucking days are over unless this hits $200 on BF.

You can stack the recycle coupon on top of the sale price? This doesn't work for edu coupons anymore.

Edit: Coupon disclosure says "The coupon code may not be combined, used in conjunction with or used in addition to any other promotion or offer" so I'm guessing no dice.

When on sale you van but i thought easystore was removed from and option from the 10% recycle program. Regardless Seagate Exos is $286 all day on Amazon if you just plan to shuck anyhow.

FWIW, I prefer these over Red+/Pro/Gold despite having to shuck and having a shorter warranty due to many reports of the +/Pro/Gold being loud. If that's not a concern, those are probably better drives to go with, but if it is, be cautious of that. As for warranty, 3 years plus an additional year through the credit card should be enough, as it will likely fail either well within that or well after. And I can always use the enclosures for older, smaller drives that these replace.

Regarding buying from WD/Amazon, also be aware that there are many reports of WD shipping drives with little to no protection and having a frustrating and slow RMA process (or even requiring the return to be packaged with materials they weren't sent with), whereas many, if not most, drives purchased from Amazon have reduced or even no warranties, and if they do have warranties they're often through the seller, not the manufacturer, for better or worse. Not telling anyone not to buy from either, just advising caution and know what you're getting into, take extra precautions, and be prepared for possible issues. To me, it's worth a little extra cost or slightly "lesser" drive to get through BB and be able to return locally if there are any issues and know the full warranty applies.

What capacity have you gone up to in Easystores? Because the 18TB are pretty noisy and I've heard the 18tb reds are quieter than the easystore white labels but havent been able to confirm that. I havent used any 16tb before but ended up grabbing a couple of the red pros since it's 15% cb at the moment.

The largest I currently have is 12TB, so it's possible the 16's would be louder. Unfortunately, I may never know, since BB canceled my orders.

Oh wow did they provide any reason? From what I've read the 18tb white labels appear to be similar to the hc550s. They're pretty noisy but perform well. Hopefully the 16 pros I got are quieter!

Nope. Just got off chat with them and not only could they not tell me why, but they said I wouldn't be able to get them at the sale price, i.e. place the order again through them and have them adjust the price. So, as I told them in response, I'm done with BB. Gonna have to find an alternative. Just really sucks because I needed those drives.

The coupon will be supplied soon. And doesn't expire.
