You literally do not need to use the HP batteries on your Ryobi HP tools, but with this kit you can take full advantage of the performance of your HP tools vs the non HP batteries. You don't like how heavy they are with a 6ah or even 4ah battery? Great we got your 2ah one right here. Oh the 2ah does not last long enough? Great we got the 6ah. What's that still to heavy? Fine the 4ah is just right, now shut up and buy some more HP tools to take advantage of your starter kit. Here, we even give you a free tool as a bonus so you can really start off right and don't need to really buy more HP batteries unless you want to.
You cannot ship the one you want to keep to house and choose to pick up the one you don't and cancel it.
Choosing the most expensive tool, the battery kit is then $107.61, but you will have to return the tool you don't want to keep.

1.) Buy the batteries
2.) Return the extra tool to either a) make batteries cheaper or 2) exchange for a tool I want like the Ryobi power washer?
I saw some mention of the deal "hack" early on the post, but could not find complete details.

2. Your receipt should show 2 line items, one being the batteries for whatever the deal amount was and the tool should show as free. The receipt will also show a 'return value' for each showing what you will get back if you return either the batteries or the tool
3. take the item you are returning to customer service and do a normal return
4. this is a bonus step: Afterwards go back inside and buy ANOTHER battery + free tool deal and return whichever you don't want. It takes balls to do this, but I just did it and it works

I appreciate your effort.

You can choose to pick up the batteries into one store, and never pick up the tool in another store, of vice versa.

i borrowed a bunch of my ryobi tools and batteries to my father in law and all the tools made it back, but not all the batteries! He's 80 years old so I don't intend to hassle him about missing batteries but i guess it's time to restock.
Doesn't have to be later. You can literally return it that same visit to the store.
