Its not the same hardware.

TL : DR
1. More memory
2. 2.5gb port
3. 2x usb 3.0

Isn't it $30 per antenna? That would make this worth $90.

What do you mean?

Yes, the U has an extra 2.5 GB wan port ( 6 ports total) and is is quad-core, cpu, and has 1 GB RAM. The "S" is a dual core router with 512 mb RAM and has standard 5-ports 1 WAN 4 LAN. The wIfi Performance should largely be the same so as an extended mesh AP the S might be fine but I think as the main router I would opt for the U.

How soon do these 15% coupons expire?
Does BestBuy generally allow to price match AND use this coupon?

Went to BB before this was posted. They couldnt make the 15% off coupon work with the router. The manager just marked it down 15% on her own. Bad thing about BB is you have to return within 2 weeks if you dont like it.

Most of us are running Merlin anyway.

And while it still has the Trend Micro modules, they are disabled by default.

Or, if you really want to dive deep, you can remove the binaries.

The coupon doesn't have an expiration date, it's been around for a while. They don't allow price matching with the coupon.

Just tried this at my local store and they were getting an error trying to print the coupon. Manager initially said he would give me the 15% off with an override but then when they didn't have it in stock and we tried to order it, he said he couldn't do it since it was already on sale. I assume the reason he didn't is because it dropped below their threshold for doing a discount override.
I am betting if I got the coupon it would have worked fine.

In my opinion, Asus' routers are better than any of the competition. Its a reasonably priced wifi 6 router, well rated and has an integrated mesh system that makes it more versatile than other standard routers and significantly less expensive than wifi 6 mesh systems.

At the end of the day, its a good price for this router, regardless if you are giving a recommendation to buy one.
Agreed, I think they give the best bang for the buck.

Have the AX86U in several locations and it's fantastic! Merlin support is gravy.

Going to pick up one of these to add as a node.

Note: this is only a SD because of 15% discount. also, chase had some offers for selected few. check them before buying!
Love the AI Mesh, super easy to set up, I have converted some of the tmobile AC1900's to stock AC86u firmware and they work fantastic on the latest merlin, for $39 you can't go wrong with using them as nodes. They can be quite tricky to get to the stock 86U firmware, you've got to be familiar with Putty and WINSCP but after a couple hours or figuring it out I bought 2 more for nodes and plan on using this one as my main router.

Ac68u. Ac86u has a b53 dual core and 4x4 5g radio.

Do you have some good sources that explain how to do this? Is this possible for someone who has little to no technical skills?
