Is there anything on the market that can diagnose and maybe clear SRS/airbag control module codes and diagnose faulty transmission/torque converter? Non-brand specific. Something universal that i can use on different brands.
Probably not anywhere near this price range. The engine/emissions systems communications are standardized among manufacturers, but the rest vary in interface protocols, pins etc. Most readers that will really cover everything start in the few hundred dollars range for an import clone that won't do all diagnostics etc. Higher end units that do it all and have graphing/oscilliscopes etc usually start up in the 1k plus range. If you're a mechanic, it's worth the investment, if not, I'd buy readers specific to the vehicles you're working on.

In for one to try, I use FORSCAN for detailed stuff at home (all Ford house for now) but this will be nice to not have to drag out the PC and cable or mess with a phone, and/or help friends/family.

You should be able to do that without a reader. For Toyotas it's a key out of ignition and key in ignition while pushing some button combos

Careful..that combo did a Hadouken and I had a hard time replicating the move. 😉

There are certainly many scanners that will read an airbag SRS code, but you clear the codes by solving the problem.

Clearing a code on a defective airbag would be an unfathomably bad idea for anything but an offroad racecar. It would essentially make the car have no value as you could not sell it without horrific litigation risk.

Simply fixing the airbag system problem normally will not clear the code. In my experience, even after fixing the problem, you need to manually clear the code. I had to do this on a bmw x5, older volvo, and also my 2006 sequoia with my crp123.

Fair point. I wonder if the $169 Harbor Freight knockoff scanner will accomplish that.

I'm not sure. I paid somewhere around 90-100 for the CRP123 scanner and while it does not have any bi-directional control, it does scan more than just the ECU/main engine computer and can reset airbag lights, TCM stuff, etc.

Yes i know what you mean. It's a new install. Everything works just need to clear the airbag light and see if there are any other fault codes. No physical damage to any components.

My replacement was a clearly repackaged and taped up unit with a bunch of weird seeds stuck in the packaging. SMDH
