Never used Marriott cards...have always only used Chase/United, Amex/Delta and other variants. Is this a good deal? Can I potentially use this to book a 5 night vacation somewhere (Hawaii?) where the redemption per night is 50-65K points. Sorry, the 3 pages of comments are more questions than answers, trying to get some inputs from users of this or similar Marriott card for perspective before I apply. Thanks!

I've booked week long Hawaii trips just in points, no issues as long as the hotel you're booking has point redemption during the time you're booking.

For reference, I just used 105,000 points for three nights at the Marriott in Ghent, Belgium. Room rate was over $200/night. I also have two rooms reserved at a Renaissance in downtown Washington, D.C., that are currently about $450/night (they are 50k certificates). So, there's value to those 5 certs.

Agree with you, only issue is lately they keep doing this on an on-going basis, I was reading that in one of the top points blog, but I do agree its a good straight up 5 night certificates you can use.

My only concern, would you be able to lump the 4 certificates to get the 5th night free?

No.

They will be automatically issued within a couple days of the credit card statement containing the purchase that put you over the $5k threshold being generated.

I believe he's asking about what happens after 12 months. Reissue. I have the same question in case of not being able to use the 5 nights the first year.

So worst case this deal is $95 for 5 nights first year + 1 anniversary free night, correct?

Also interested in knowing. And time of the year. Is this redeemable year round or do points change depending on season? Thanks

The certificates are 'use them or lose them'. As the terms of the certificates state, if not used within 12 months, they disappear. That's it.

Thanks. Waiting to see discussion on how easy to use these. Points like IHG credit card offers are more friendly since they can be used later.

Are these certificates extendable?
