It definitely is though important to note that RT performance is generally much better for nvidia than AMD gpus so if that really matters to you the difference may be negligible.

Nvidia also supports DLSS which is brilliant upscaling that AMD is trying to catch up to. Nvidia broadcast is also a great tool for noise cancellation etc…

On the flip side, this card has 6GB more vram than the 3080 FE and obviously will be much easier to obtain. That 6GB could make a difference for 4k gaming and will be more future proof obviously

This is faster than a 3080 and just $20 more than the 3080 FE MSRP (after rebate)

Maybe, just maybe, people want to use this to game and NOT mine cryptocurrency.

Newegg + MIR = no thanks but good deal otherwise. I also avoid anything Gigabyte.
I've always enjoyed their motherboards.

Not one man should need all that power 😜... As good of a price as it would be after applying the rebate, I just have such a distaste for Gigabyte branded products as a whole so I'll have to pass.

Just bought my XFX Black 6900xt for $900 and absolutely love it. Best card I've owned and wish I had it paired with my old 12700k or 5800x instead of the 3900x it's currently being ran with. Over the last 2 years I have owned and mained for at least 1/2 month periods in order of ownership- 1080ti- 5700xt-2080-3070-6800xt-3080-1080ti-6700xt-6900xt…

People are turning down a $720 6900xt. Looks like the market has recovered.
pretty much almost there 20% correction in gpus would make it fully recover as 3080s get back in stonk 4000 series come online and we shall see what prices and performance they will charge.

I'm mainly looking at bandwidth price to performance.
everything else for me doesn't matter.

I mine on my off time as I don't buy 100 gpus like many crypto miners.
they will have a real hard time liquidating their stonk of GPUS.

sorry miners.
high energy prices + price of crypto going down must be hurting your bottom line.
Miners must have been selling crypto to meet energy price demands as well as HF meeting margin calls with crypto.

Prior to COVID, the cheapest price on the RX 6900 XT was $999.00 and the only card that tested better by many testers was the RTX 3090 with a pre-COVID list price of $1499.00. This likely won't last long at this price...

On NewEgg: I have had zero issues. I recently bought a computer case that UPS rough handled and NewEgg replaced it prior to getting the return. However, I did take pictures...

Considering that my last 2 Ryzen builds were under $430 total cost, I struggle to justify spending $700 on a GPU. Maybe if there was a $400 rebate, I'd bite.

If you are a gamer, stop reading here. Nothing below will be interesting. Actually, nothing below is interesting for anyone. Everyone should stop reading.

For Linux people, AMD's drivers are 1000x better than nvidias. Until 3 yrs ago, I'd only buy nvidia on purpose for about the last 15 yrs. Then they dropped support for a perfectly working 7200GS and the cheapest replacement was a GT 1030 ($70 at the time, now $120). I usually get fanless GPUs - silence if more important to me than performance.

Last fall, I got an AMD iGPU Ryzen and the drivers required a newer Linux kernel, but it booted and worked well enough for a non-desktop. Only got the iGPU version to save $100+ on an expensive GPU.

As for mining BC or some other blockchain currency, I thought using GPUs wasn't the most cost effective solution for the last 10 yrs. People were building BC mining specific hardware for $20k-$200k instead. I mined a few BCs around 2010 as a curiosity. I really need to find that wallet. After all, it is my only retirement plan. Wink

I've really never cared for them no matter how highly rated their parts are.
Sounds like the problem is with you and not GIGABYTE?

Edit: I have used their parts but haven't done any market research. if you have any data points to add, that would help, instead of your feelings towards them! I think the community cares about the why, not the what!

My experience I the opposite. Left Nvidia due to bad drivers. Occasionally have problems with AMD, but they get fixed fast.
I've had good luck, and bad luck, with both.

Graphics drivers are super complicated. For the past few years, nVidia has seemed to have the edge, but AMD has definitely been making significant investments in catching up.

missing too many features, should be 500 or less
Give it a few months. Prices came down 2/3 in the past 2 months. I just bought an nVidia 2070 (used) for less than $300, and the going price is just over $300. That was $1000-$1200 just a few months ago. A couple of months ago, for $300, you couldn't even by an RTI 6400 (about the slowest card still made today).

FYI, the return policy on newegg for this (and most, if not all, new cards) is:

"Return for refund within: Non-refundable"
"Return for replacement within: 30 days"

Price is great though, if not for the return problem. Also, rebates suck.
you can return any item for full refund as long as they are unopened and still sealed
