Agreed! I've actually been waiting for one to go on sale at a decent price. Importing medical records (had to do that for a second opinion recently), burning classic games for CD based consoles, ripping CDs and DVDs for Plex, etc. Just because people don't do these things doesn't mean other people don't have very valid and frequent uses for things. I'm glad some people on here see that rather than threadcrap on other people's purchases and posts.

I have some laying around. I am getting one since I don't wanna kill my BR drive/burner more with non BR burns... LMAO 22 with tax isn't bad for a backup.

Just picked this up. The software was worth the price and the hardware is nice, compact, quiet. Was disappointed in the drive having Micro-USB interface, but will probably just keep the included cable attached to prevent failure.

Micro-USB is still nice, last time i got a dell one (which works great too) and it came with Mini USB interface. If i lose that cable i have to go to an antique store to get one Frown

afaik, and someone may correct me on this, but the lasers used for reading/writing dvd and br are separate, as they're different wavelengths, so theoretically one shouldn't affect the other..but my current external bd drive seems to do poorly on dvd+r, but fine on dvd+r dl and any writable bd and bd dl

I really don't miss the days of having to back up my data on DVDs. I have a BR drive in my build from over 5 years ago that I haven't used ever lol.
