For those, like me, who'd prefer a mini-USB rear connector the older LG models GP50NB40 & GP65NS60 that are available at Microcenter for $4 & $6 more respectively also has this capability. I own a GP65NS60 to use in my car as I found it to be the best of the three models.

I am not willing to believe the archival quality argument anymore as I have countless CDRs which have experienced 'laser-rot" with the label side (the part where the actual dye is located) is starting to rot and lift from the plastic disc from the outside in.
Most of my DVD+Rs are fine, but I anticipate that it is just a matter of time. Maybe BD M-DISC actually does what it says in lasting 100+ years, but they are cost prohibitive.
The only truly bullet proof media that I've used is magneto-optical discs (that each barely held 140 megs?)
