I'm terribly unorganized and these bottom freezer drawers end up hiding a bunch of frozen foods that I forget about because it's hard to access them.
If anyone else has this problem, I highly recommend trying out the 4-door fridges (mine is Samsung).

That's a great leaking champion!!!
It's not an easy job, and the tech's have got to be pretty good to do the job. There is a new compressor and related parts, and the software has to be updated. Not impossible, but a lot of tech's don't have the skills. A number of stories where the repaired compressor lasts for a year and then fails again. Just a lot to deal with for a family who depends on the fridge.
Yes, Samsung has it's share of problems too, but doesn't tend to be compressor failures and the repairs are generally simpler. A really good appliance retailer might be able to give you some advice on the warranty support people in the area since they deal with this all the time. You might want to check with them (and perhaps they'll meet the price of Costco).

We did have a side-by-side samsung where the ice/water was on the freezer side and that it still running for the last 10 years.
I'm not going to waste my time with LG. Bad compressor and they make bad batteries for EVs. I know, different products but it tells you about the culture at LG. Their cell phones were good but bad software. When our LG died under Costco warranty we called them but we had to pay to have somebody give us a quote for the work, submit that, then have to wait for the authorization then have the work done. That's like 2 weeks you are without the fridge. Our LG fridge suddenly worked after a week so we didn't pursue it. A year later and out of costco warranty it is now working intermittently so we replaced it with a Bosch 800 series.
LG's compressor may have a 10 year warranty but labor costs way more than the compressor now days. It'd kind of like Apple saying your iphone battery may die and we can replace it with a free battery but it's $100 in labor. Apple eventually replaced their batteries free of charge. If LG fixed the compressor issue and you get your LG to last 10 years I applaud you. The rest of us were just fools. Fool me once shame on LG, Fool me twice shame on me.

I had a 2007 Sony xbr tv that broke after 10 years of use or should I expect 10 years to be general lifetime nowadays? A Samsung which we got for about 3 years now has connection or sound issues which could be buggy? dunno
A GE fridge that was pretty expensive for us (like $2000+) lost its ability to control temperature after 7 years.
I guess the more fancy they are the more easily or the fast they break.
Also, Korean brands do not seem that great either...
I have a Samsung dishwasher and gas range. The knobs are failing and falling off, never experienced that with other ranges I used in the last 30 years. Even their logos are falling off the range. after a few years. The dishwasher doesn't clean well. I tried prerinse which everywhere says I shouldn'ts, but I tried NOT prerinsing and the stains from sauces are baked onto the diningware....
You'll sing a different tune when you have $$$$ worth of food spoiled because the compressor failed and a) they can't be out for at least a week or longer, b), parts unavailable or delayed, or c) unit is older than 5 years and you have to pay hundreds of dollars for labor or d) there is no warranty and your $2-3K unit is worthless and no one wants to touch it.
I think a reasonable life expectation from a fridge's sealed system (compressor and other associated parts) should be at least 10-15 years.
Our last delivery involved removing the front door and both doors of the side by side fridge to get it in. Installers were careful and professional. If they seemed like thugs, I would have declined the delivery and demanded they send someone else.
We deal with a local appliance store here in the chicago suburbs - abt electronics. Been dealing with them for almost 3 decades between several properties. They do their own deliveries/installs and will make things right if there's a problem.

The downside is that they don't have all the same services in house as Abt does. In the Chicagoland area, Costco has basically contracted or acquired what was formerly the Sears Appliances Delivery services. They get a flat fee for ALL appliance deliveries regardless of whether it's a TV, a washing machine, or a fridge. It's not a lot of money that the delivery guys get paid for lugging big, heavy objects around a house. The guys that have visited have generally been pretty professional about things and were very careful about moving a washer and dryer up and out of the basement + bringing the new ones in but I can definitely see how a delivery team might be worn out and make mistakes after trying to make as many deliveries as possible as fast as possible during the course of a work day (especially in the summer).
Abt doesn't have the same problem because you pay an install and delivery fee, so they have their own guys and manage their own delivery processes. They are great since they are like a high end appliance Toys-R-Us for adults (especially wealthy ones), but you do pay a price for it. You can find some awesome scratch-and-dent/Open Box stuff there but it's also a crapshoot - they don't list it online so you just gotta get lucky.
