Anyone considering an LG fridge should read this carefully.

https://www.lgfridgesettlement.com/

tl;dr their compressor design is poor, resulting in limited lifespan of 2-5 years (if lucky).

If you still want to buy an LG, be prepared to replace it within a few years.

Your comment cannot be blank.

Irrelevant to this deal - I got one of those 4-door fridges (french doors top and bottom) a couple of years ago and I can't go back.

I'm terribly unorganized and these bottom freezer drawers end up hiding a bunch of frozen foods that I forget about because it's hard to access them.

If anyone else has this problem, I highly recommend trying out the 4-door fridges (mine is Samsung).
Samsung can be had cheaper. Nobody really wants Samsung

This Samsung fridge is a better buy:
https://www.costco.com/.product.100477803.html

It's currently $2200, we bought it for $2000 in May.

It's more reliable than LG, has extra drawer and doesn't have the silly see-through glass on the right door.

Looks like a monster energy drain. It uses 724KW a year?! That's ~$200 a year at today's prices in the Northeast. That's 2 or 3x my other LG fridge (although not as big). Not a deal-breaker for some but keep this it mind as energy prices will continue to increase (the energy guide label is outdated with their price per KW/h). A similar set of fridges in Europe by the same manufacturer can use 2-3x less energy given their stricter efficiency standards. The U.S. Energy Star Rating is a useless measure these days given how low their standards are.

By no means am I stating LG as a brand is bad so I will start there before people get upset with my next statements.

LG has a huge issue with their "Linear Compressors" in the cooling products. There have been attempts at class action lawsuits due to the high failure rates. They fail after a few years and are expensive and difficult to fix (repeat repairs are common). If you decide to get this fridge, I would buy a 5 year warranty at minimum but honestly, I would spend a few hundred more on a better fridge brand. GE, Whirlpool, KitchenAid, Frigidaire are all better options (Many of these are owned by same parent company). I know there are failure rates in all but LG and Samsung (LG also made recent Kenmore branded fridges) are cheap but have major issues in reliability.

^^Jury still out on how long our repair will last. Guy was in and out in about 90 minutes, so not exactly super lengthy. He did say if this was a non warranty repair, labor would be ~$400 (service call + repair), looking up the part numbers used online, ~$500 in parts.

So far so good, freezer at -5 to -10 F. In fact colder than usual so set the temp up a bit.

Yes you can. Open the frezer drawer. Above the ice bin there is an on/off switch.

Thanks for answering, repped!

Looking at review on youtube. Seems like LG has fix their issue with the compressor problem and there's recall on certain models of previous LG. With that being said, can someone confirm does LG comes with a 10 yr warranty on compressor ? Also, has the compressor been redesign with the previous problem people been having ?

I'm not sure if it's been redesigned, but our 31 cubic ft Kenmore with the LG compressor just went after only 3.5 years & although the compressor is under warranty, it's $1200 for labor & to replace a few other parts damaged from the compressor loss. Repairman said he's done well over 4000 of these & 4 in the last week alone. Said to avoid LG, Samsung & Kenmore at all costs.

Did a lot of research when buying fridges and all I read was dont buy Samsung. there was an ask reddit for appliance repair salesman and they said the same about poor samsung reliability and high repair costs. Good TVs but horrible fridges.
While true, go read up on the LG compressor lawsuit and how LG/Kenmore hosed a ton of people. Even "repair" was just putting in another faulty compressor.

Everything I've heard...Whirlpool.

After doing less than 5mins of online homework reading appliance technician comments about "never buy an LG", why do people still buy them?

Same reason people vote for politicians that increase taxes, inflation, fuel costs, etc.......

I'd jump on this if I needed one. I would have liked LG's "Craft Ice" feature.
My next fridge definitely has to have this.
